At Wealthy Affiliate - There are NO Upsells!

There are many reasons why there are NO upsells at Wealthy Affiliate. I believe the main reason is because THERE DOESN'T HAVE TO BE! As a new free member, you are given the opportunity to explore the WHOLE platform for 7 days. What other program offers this much for free:

  • Live Support (for 1st. 7 days)
  • Your own personal blog
  • Free hosting for 2 websites
  • A 10 lesson training course
  • A 10 lesson affiliate bootcamp training course
  • A great keyword research tool (30 free searches)
  • 2 Training classes
  • An affiliate program
  • 1on1 couching (for 1st. 7 days)

The choice is yours whether you decided to remain a free member or upgrade (not upsell) to the Premium membership or the Yearly membership. The Premium membership is for those who want more training and support and the Yearly membership is for those who know they aren't going anywhere and want to save $ on there membership fee's. You also have the option to remain a free member as long as would like! Now, that is not that hard to understand and is no way using upsells to deceive people. YOU MAKE THE CHOICE!

Why do I mention this, because I recently heard, from a new member here at Wealthy Affiliate, complaining about this very subject. Thinking that at every turn there were upsells. That is simple not true and quite frankly makes me a bit angry. At Wealthy Affiliate you don't even have to hunt for any "fine print" to view the details of each membership, unlike other programs that I have reviewed. The membership details are in your face and honest the moment you sign up for the free membership.

If you are satisfied with the initial training you are provided in the free membership and don't need any further training or support, good for you, you pay nothing for it.

If on the other hand you are in need of further training (which by the way, is far more than I ever expected it to be) and need the support of the owners, tech support and an awesome community, then pay the premium fee. By the way, it can pay for itself if you do it right!

Have you made up your mind as I did and know that you aren't going anywhere else for a very long time, save yourself some money and upgrade to the Yearly membership.

There Are No Upsells At Wealthy Affiliate! Simple as that!!

Respectfully yours,
Suzette

Well put Suzette, very clearly and logically explained

Hi Peter, sorry for the slow response. Lot's of personal stuff going on lately that has prevented me from being online. Thank you for the comment. I appreciate it a lot.

you have expressed this point very well, there are members who have stayed with the free option and managed to may it work then go on to be premium at the end of the day no business can grow without some financial input

Good point Katie, would you expect to open up a coffee shop in your local town and not invest any money into it? You may get by for a short time, but how will your business grow without some financial input?

thank you, but it is true whilst free is great there comes a point when it just wont give you the things you really need

Katie, I think it depends on individual needs.

yes it does and I think what you want to get from it

Upsells, I hate them. But that is another tactic taught to teach marketers how to retrieve every dollar possible from potential buyers. I don't necessarily agree with the tactic, unless something truly worthwhile and of value is being offered. Thankfully here at WA, people get to see the value they get before joining. And then there is no need to be upsold.

Exactly Christian!

I don't hate upsells per se, but, what I do hate is when you purchase an inexpensive item and even before you can access it you get an upsell telling you to buy the next item or the first one won't work nearly as well as you thought it would....thievery in my view!!
Mark

I get what your saying Mark. I guess what got me going on this was seeing someone assuming that you HAD to upgrade, you HAD to go Pro with Jaxxy, You HAD to purchase your own domain. That WA was nothing but a bunch of upsells and that is simply untrue.

Completely true Suzette,
$47 a month or $359 annually and that's it!
The definition of VFM!
Mark

OK clarify for me Mark, what is VFM lol

You're gonna like it Suzette......

......Value For Money!

Your right Mark, I like it!! :)

I'm not sure what is meant by remaining a free member. My understanding is that you are free for aeven days then you become premium either by monthly or yearly premiums.
Ed

You can remain a free member for as long as you like and they will never be any pressure to upgrade. However you do lose access to Kyle and Carson

Hi Ed. That is the point. You CAN remain a start member you just aren't provided with as many benefits as you would with the premium membership. You do not automatically become a premium member. You have to make that choice then upgrade.

Thanks, didn't know that!
Ed

Brilliant blog Suzette and bound to be on people's share list....it'll be on mine for sure!!

Mark

Well, I don't know about brilliant Mark LOL, but I love your enthusiasm about it! Share all you want my friend.

Thanks, great to reinforce.

Thanks Jean.

I'm thinking, each time I do something as a Starter member and get a message like hey, if you were Premium you could do much more, I'm looking at a very well and professionally wrapped upsale. Do I mind? Certainly not, because I know there's a ton of value in Premium, and when I (have to) go back to Starter by tomorrow (sniff!) I know I WILL be biting pencils and fingernails until I can afford Premium again. It's an entirely different world and pointing that out to new members at every corner of their WA experience means to encourage them to get the full potential of what we have at our fingertips here. Yes, I call this a form of upsale. It's a business. Nothing wrong with that. One just has to distinguish the good from the bad, and this here .. is GOOD.

If I am understanding you correctly EAnna, you are saying that you will be going back to the starter membership tomorrow. It would be wise of you to PM Carson or Kyle about this situation because I believe that you can not downgrade. I have never considered nor encounter this problem so I hope that someone else with more experience or knowledge can give you some guidance. I would hate to see you go. It is true you can do and go so much farther within the Premium membership but it is not a must. Good luck dear and I truly hope you can get things work out. No chewing on pencils you hear, you could get lead poisoning. :)

Unfortunately cannot do it that way round. That would not be fair have chosen to pay once you become a premium member you can being a free starter member. It makes sense really you've evaluated the product you bought it. If you find you need to leave for a while and many people do for lots of reasons you can leave and then come back as a premium member at a later date

Not leaving, Kat. It just turned out I jumped the gun, financially, and I even blogged about that. Fair? Not fair? I wouldn't know. I just know it can't be helped. So whatever will "happen to me", I'll have to accept it and take it from there. That's off topic, I just had to answer you.

Thank you Suzette.

hey EAnna, just got this straight from the horses mouth (Kyle lol) "we give you 30 days beyond your cut off date to either move your website or re-subscribe". Hope this helps! I wasn't sure how this worked either so I am glad I found out as well. We just never know what life can throw at us.

Good post.
