JUNK BLOGGING for rank? Is it becoming kinda like SPAM?

OK. I bit on the 90 DAY CHALLENGE because I found the following benefits:

  • I love a way to keep myself honest. (I already blog daily on my website to ensure I grow my content.)
  • I would love to see what other people do in a day, a month, 3 months. (I get new idea almost every time someone shares their system/work style and I read a TON of your blogs)
  • I got a grip on the blog volume myself by resetting my email settings so I wasn't thinking more sensitively about those who haven't. I only have 1400 followers but the blog numbers were already way too much for me. (However I still read blogs, everybody - I SWEAR PEOPLE! I just go to activity and read them without being forced to delete so many every day.)
  • 90 Days can sometimes pass with no FEELING of progress if you don't track it. (I think it's just a cool little idea to watch the time suck, which has absolutely been a challenge for me and I'm a seasoned "work at home" business person.)

(Here's my other blog about THE BLOGS!)

https://my.wealthyaffiliate.com/supportworx/blog/s...

HOWEVER, PERHAPS THE BLOGS AREN'T THE PLACE FOR THIS COOL LITTLE IDEA?

  • I think the 90 Day Blogs are pissing people off. Plain and simple.
  • Who wants that? That's the last thing I want to do. Is it seeming kind of like BLOG-SPAM to people?
  • I especially don't want to be seen as the blogger striving for any "Cheap Pop"... not here anyway LOL. It can really lower the respect some of the OG's might otherwise have for your contributions, and you as a business person.
  • And the top guys who continually blog REAL HELPFUL CONTENT here are super important. I value their opinion.
  • As Boomer said, I don't think any body appreciates "RANK SPANKING".
  • I would call it JUNK BLOGGING. It helps your rank because the ranking system doesn't know if you're talking about what came out of your chicken that day, or what came out of your website. BUT IT IS A LITTLE SILLY, AND OBVIOUS... and irritating. I can totally see that. (Of course, if I was still getting blog emails I would just be - again- deleting the ones I didn't need and the 90 day Challengers are really obvious.)

IT'S TAKEN ME 7 MONTHS TO GET MY 102 RANK - NO BIG DEAL - NO PREMATURE RUSH

  • Do I suck at speed? I don't care. I don't know if I really NEED to rank unless I REALLY deserve it. I don't think I want to get it "cheaply".
  • "POWER-RANKING" is obviously a bit of self-aggrandizement for shameless self-promotion. Especially at the rate of 3 blogs a day.
  • Why don't we just not inundate the system with random stuff to climb up in rank?
  • If we have that much time we could absolutely put it into our own websites, like Nathaniell said, THEN COME BACK HERE AND HAVE SOMETHING TO BLOG ABOUT!
  • When I came here I looked to the top 25 (AMBASSADORS) as people who:
    • Knew enough to help me.
    • Had time to help me.
    • Would be kind enough to help me

AND THEY DID HELP, IMMENSELY! EVERY TIME I ASKED, AND QUICKLY.

If the Ambasssadors were "POWER-RANKING" with "JUNK BLOGS" could they truly have been of so much help to me?

I doubt it.

The Challenge blogs are kind of junk. Let's face it. It's work related, but it's a bit of junk too, honestly. Like hanging around the water cooler just BSing about work while other people are grinding away nearby... it's kinda bothersome at the extreme.

Anyway, I'm backing away from the Challenge in terms of blogging. I may keep the checklist going on my own, and do an update somewhere down the line. But thanks to everyone who was so cool and supportive! If any of you want to do a private challenge with me just private message me and lets form a little group or something! I'm all about discipline and I'll help anyone in any way I can.

Very well said Alex. I really do agree with you regarding the amount of unnecessary blogs. :)

Thank you for saying so, Rob! -Alexx

I fully agree! The BLOG should be to educate people (members) and not to blow their horn, or make points only! We need to know more about the peculiarities of WordPress and how to build our websites. The rest of the stuff is just interfering with the flow of things, right!?

Totally Mike. And you well know how much I have left to learn! -Alexx

Hi Alex, in my blog I only expressed my personal opinion and did not use strong words. You write that I am 'pissed off' with such activity; this is too strong expression and it is a pity you use it. See my blog, those are not sentences of an angry person.

Perhaps you got such an impression after seeing so many reactions on my blog. I am not responsible for that. In fact I see that you describe that activity as a junk. The reaction of people on my blog shows that many think the same way.

I like how you write, obviously you are talented and I am not surprised that you manage to blog daily at your site. This is for every respect. So, no sense to waste talent and time on 'junk' (sorry for using your word).

I'll just take a reference to you out JV. It's just the way I speak... a bit casual and easily taken wrong sense of humor. Obviously you were quite low key about it - not ACTUALLY pissed off! HAHA And yes I loved reading the comments. This is what blogs should do - give you a picture of a bunch of viewpoints... not just bring trivia. My opinion only - the few it isn't trivia for can group together elsewhere better.

I hope my gist wasn't missed. I believe I plainly said in so many words that the people LIKE YOU who contribute value don't need to be getting pissed off with sheer volume of... JUNK. It was a compliment to you. And I try to give credit in my blogs if I used someone's info from another blog for part of my concept. It's just courtesy.

I just don't need to spend time participating here and end up offending good people. I saw some benefits. I see drawbacks too and don't really need even a single thankless chore! And I don't care if you use my word, I'm not so territorial... it's kind of true, right? -Alexx

Thank you, appreciated.

Hi Alex, I am glad they mention the 90 days challange in the title, so it doesnot take time, they are "bulk deleted" here.

Gotcha Loes! Hey, I figured that's just what everyone would do, but I'm not into irritating the masses... -Alexx

Before I got sick and almost died summer before last, I was a social butterfly here at WA. My rank went well below 100 (I forget the #). Wasn't trying for that goal, but it happened. And I kinda' gloated in it. (Honest feelings - loved the status and notoriety).

But when I came back recently, I was in the 1400's. Whoa! LOL Starting from the bottom again is rather humbling, but that's okay. It isn't my # 1 priority goal, but if I get down in the single digits.....I think my head can handle it.....;)))

I just want to have a successful website built from here that helps others (the Disabled who need wheelchairs/accessories - my niche), one that makes enough money to support my lifestyle and still have the time to reach out to my WA family here.

It's the "I can do anything/everything" syndrome from my Bipolar, but that's okay, I enjoy it and enjoy life.

Spread the JOY!

SheilaKay aka Bunn

Thanks so much for sharing that with me, SheilaBunn HAHA. Your site sounds amazing! I've got a couple of "crusader" sites in the mill - for lack of a better way of describing them, but am still wondering how to monetize them. I think sites like yours are the heart of the internet... not the more superficial ones. You are just awesome! Hey, you mean I can't do everything? I'm not bipolar but I think I NEED to do everything, eventually. -Alexx

Thanks, Alexx! I'm having to start at the very beginning again with this new website. Got a new Theme and it's pretty, so if I can get things to behave there, I'll be set. So far my income is......ready??? $3.03 !!!

You should put up your websites for us, Alexx, so we can go take a LookSee. I bet they are Tony the Tiger...Ggrrreatt!

Nooo... they are not great, for sure. They are novice at best. I really just committed to myself not to share sites here because I've had SO MANY TIMES my stuff stolen in the past. I know this is a great place for people trolling to get ideas and run with them. Just paranoid, I guess, but have experience with it and it's been very costly to me. ;) -Alexx

I never dreamed that would happen! Wow. I'm floored. I guess it's because it would never occur to me to do that to anyone.

I'm a firm Golden Rule believer and practicer. Sorry that's happened to you, Alexx. It's a good 'heads up' to me to be careful.

Hmmm...maybe that's why I don't see many folks here with their websites posted. I hadn't correlated that: WA members & no websites. Geeezzz.

And I was about to list mine. Caught me before this mamma buffalo ran off the edge of the cliff with the herd.....;) Thanks!

Yep! When I used AdWords for my attorney-related business years ago I started out paying maybe $50 a day. Later after lookalikes and flat out thieves and predators got in the game - some LITERALLY using entire pages of my content for scam niche sites - It was up to $500 a day! Ridiculous! -Alexx

Very well said it has taken me 19 months to get my rank and I did want to do the 90 day challenge as I thought it would be good for me to work on the blogging skills as it does not come naturally to me, however as you said some people are hacked off with it,, I doubt anyone set out to spam or doctor rankings, so will make my own challenge in a different way, however I do have to say once I have said something it drives me to get it done .. perhaps I will whisper and that might work

OK! WE CAN WHISPER! To each other, maybe... not the general population that's probably sick of my chicken pictures after only 3! AHHA -Alexx

ha ha ha too funny might be the same with my Scotland pictures

Thanks for sharing your heart honestly.

Yes, I think the key points are the 3 you mentioned:

Top 25 (AMBASSADORS) are people who:

Know enough to help others.
Have time to help others.
Would be kind enough to help others

Thanks TP... I'm honored when any of you top guys agrees with me. I really appreciate the MATERIAL contribution you make every single day here. -Alexx

You are most welcome Alexx! :-)

at's a lot to take onboard, good post.

I know David. I've only been here 7 months and it takes me a bit to realize maybe a new good "sounding" idea will have different ramifications than I see at first glance. I hope it at least sparks some individual thought toward a quality of contributions here. -Alexx

Hi Alexx
I see your point. There is clutter in our blogosphere and that is wasting everybody's time.

Well and succinctly put, Dick. As usual. -Alexx

Agree, I hate those afflicted with blogging diarrhoea, no time to waste on trivia

True. I gotta agree. -Alexx

This is perfectly alright to me, and I have been an ambassador for a very long time and just recently dropped out for a bit
If someone is just being active for the low rank it will show in their ability to help others.
I have been enjoying the blogs myself :)

Yeah I just think the people were Ambassadors, like you, when I got here are really the "GO-TO" people who not only contribute but can take the time to be of help individually, and I really appreciate you for that, Shawn. You really helped me a lot. -Alexx

Thanks Alex, and I agree. Sometimes people play the system and do not deliver, but they are easy to spot. No system is perfect, i think ours is pretty real :)

Well, it's easy for us to spot... most of the time. But the newer people, or less business-minded people, may think the socializing passes for work. It's like in the realtor world - my first "real job" after my 10 year 4 year degree - we used to say "hanging around the water cooler isn't working. But most realtors spend 80 percent of their time doing BS, and 20% working, if that. And it doesn't help anyone, especially them and the new people they also contaminate. But there was power in numbers and it was very difficult for the brokers to get a handle on it without alienating the bulk of the employees who might perhaps dribble one listing a year in HAHA They all hated me but all I went there for was to work. I wasn't in a popularity contest. -Alexx

I hear that. It is easy for me to help people because I am full time here. It seems I am always online because I am/ 20% is being kind really :)

Yeah, it totally is Shawn! I almost said that also! -Alexx
