This is my first blog post since I joined just over a week ago. I just completed course 2 and looking forward to making my site more awesome. Was going to say beautiful but that sounds too girly so AWESOME it is.

Trial and Error

I tried to learn wordpress by trial and error before i ran across WA and believe me, it can get extremely frustrating when you have no one to turn to for answers. seems like every forum you google seems to come back with 5 to 10 yr old posts. Even looked into hiring a wordpress freelancer to build my site but that was out of the question as they charge thousands and even seen some up in the 5 figures. So what we have here at WA is a goldmine.

I thought I was doing decent, my site looked good to the eye but didn't realize all the small technical stuff I was missing. My branding was wrong with Trademarked names and was filled with copyrighted photos. Never knew photos were copyrighted. This was all new to me and now I feel confident i'm heading in the correct direction.

TO MY SITES

Was trying to construct 3 sites at once thinking it would save time doing them all together but this can be too overwhelming at times so I dropped one. Here are the 2 current websites i'm working on and still need a ton of work. Been undecided on themes and keep switching them up.

My plans within 3 months is to have at least 2 sites up and bringing in at least a small amount of income.

My plans within 6 months is to be able to hire a freelance writer to help with content so it will free me up more time to engage with audience.

FREELANCE WRITERS

I have hired a writer in the past from a place called upwork for as little as $5 to $10 an article. This could possibly be the route i will take once my site is profitable enough to be able to hire someone on full time. I feel that $300 a month for an article once a day is well worth it if you're pulling in $1000 or more with each site. That's when I could start another one. What is everyones opinion on this approach?

Thanks,

Kevin Beal

When you do decide to hire freelancers its best to run them through copyscape to check they are original.

I would be very interested to know how it goes with your freelancers on Upwork, I have considered doing the same for one of my sites. I like your focused ideas and how you have created goals for yourself within a time frame. I would imagine 3 months is a very short time to get 2 sites up and monetised, but sure you can do it with focussed effort. Let us know how it goes and wishing you great success with your sites!
