Is Your Why Big Enough?
People go into business at different stages of their lives and for various reasons.
To name a few; it could be to make a bit of extra cash to compliment that 9-5 job, to find an escape from that 9-5 job, could be due to a change in one’s life circumstances and redundancy or to have a better lifestyle. We all have these dreams of making it big one day or has someone written you off and told you, you will never make it in life and you want to prove yourself. The list is endless.
No one goes into business hoping to fail. The truth is, everyone goes into business with success in mind, but success does not come easy. There is a lot of hard work involved. From the time you hatch that idea of going into business, the hard work begins. This could start with a market survey if your business involves selling or providing a service. You will need to know who your potential customers are. You will need a business plan etc.
For any business to succeed, there has to be some kind of planning on how the business is going to operate. No matter how small the business is, some planning is essential.
All this preparation and planning can be off putting for a lot of people. However, this should not be the time to abandon your dream. This is the point at which you should be going back to your WHY.
Remember WHY you went into business in the first place.
Challenges will be always be there in business but your WHY should be bigger always.
The naysayers will always be there but your WHY is bigger.
It may take time to plan out that business and to work out some of the challenges but as long as you have your WHY in focus, success will surely come your way.
Wish you all the best here at WA.

Planning for your business is never pointless. It works as a road map for your business and will help you prepare you for some of the hurdles you are likely to come across. Of course, it is not possible to plan for everything. Thanks for taking time to read my post.
Thanks Jim for reading my post. I can't agree with you more on the importance of planning. Not planning for your business is a sure way of heading for failure.
Hard work and planning are great, but sometimes think that we need to age here, to saturate ourselves in this experience until the "dots are connecting." Great isnsghts and post, thanks!.
True, you can never do enough planning. Experience is the best teacher which is where your WHY comes in. Sometimes the lessons we learn as we meander our way through the business jigsaw can be such that we find ourselves asking if it is worthwhile going on. Hence our WHY has to be bigger to get us through such times.
Thanks for your positive contribution.
Great post. I sometimes feel that even with all my planing that my post seem point less.
I'm glad someone made something to give a sign that planning isn't pointless.
Thanks Jay, planning is never pointless. It is like a GPS for your business. It pays off with time.
