When a STILL IMAGE Starts to Breathe: Editing My Second Video (in Adobe Premiere Pro)
Have you ever looked at something static — a photo, a moment, an idea — and wondered how to make it come alive?
That’s exactly what I explored this while creating my second video editing project.
From Stillness to Motion: My Second Premiere Pro Project
n my video editing journey, I’ve just completed the second lesson of the Skillshare course “Learn by Doing: Adobe Premiere Pro for Beginners” by Emir Haj Salah.
This time, the challenge was simple on paper: take a few farm images, add animal sounds, blend them with soft transitions, and somehow, make them feel alive.
At first glance, it didn’t seem like much, just still images and sound effects.
But once I started playing with timing, rhythm, and transitions, something clicked.
I realized how editing is pure emotional composition.
Every “moo,” “baa,” or chirp (Lol!!!) needed to land at just the right moment.
Every dissolve had to breathe naturally.
Because the rhythm between what we see and what we feel.
What This Exercise Taught Me (Beyond Premiere Pro)
This project — “Farm Life: Animal Sounds & Transitions Edit” — was a playground for understanding flow.
Not just visual flow, but the kind that happens when creativity meets structure.
I practiced:
- Organizing my workspace (keeping bins and sequences tidy!)
- Matching visuals and audio with intentional timing
- Using Cross Dissolve to soften transitions
- Managing layers of ambience for depth
- Exporting a clean final version in H.264
Yet what really stayed with me was this:
Sound gives emotion to sight.
It reminded me how the same principle applies to entrepreneurship and creativity — whether you’re editing videos, building a business, or shaping your story online.
The secret is rhythm: finding that balance between structure and expression.
Takeaway
If you’re learning something new, whether it’s video editing, writing, or marketing, don’t rush the process.
Each small project, each “simple” exercise, is a chance to refine your creative muscle.
Because mastery comes from doing small things with care and intention, over and over.

Hey Romy,
That is great that you are learning how to edit videos, making transitions, and adding sound effects. I don't know if there is a free version of Adobe Premere Pro, but I am used to working with a few others. I know you can buy the entire suite for a very low price, but without updates. I bought the full suite a while ago, but I am not using it al all. 😆
yeah Hein, I am opening new possibilities for myself and honestly I love editing videos, it is like creating a story with images instead of using words!!!
I tried Canva but I am totally unhappy with it! For me Premiere Pro is the best standard out there, so I prefer investing my time on a skill recognized by the industry!!!
I know Canva can do very similar videos, once you get to know how the video creation works there. I am not very familiar with Adobe's products as they have plenty of toolbars and quite a learning curve.
Canva Is Just for Beginners Hein, no professional video editor would use that for serious project! Yeah Adobe has a longer learning curve but the results are Amazing!!
Ok, no worries. We usually use others like Capcut, OBS, etc. which are usually sufficient for our needs.
Capcut Is perfectly fine, Hein! Canva, naaaaaaa. :)))
I monthly pay 36 euros for all the Adobe creative apps so using Premiere Pro was a Natural choice!

Key take out for me: "Because mastery comes from doing small things with care and intention, over and over. "
My biggest weakness - impatience to get to the outcome; I often need to pause & focus on the process - its repeatable and scalable if you get it right.
Great post as always @Romy!
Mark believe me I am super impatient as you are!
For example, my Adobe Premiere course has 64 lessons (I want to die!!!) that I would like to finish in 14 days for my impatience! That's exactly an impossible goal to reach, to avoid burnout and keep doing other things important for our business!
Soooooooooooooo I breathe and repeat to myself: one exercise a day will take you exactly where you need to be!
Luv that - I am thinking you are winning on the impatience front... just saying 😱
Forcing myself and fighting with my demons, ahahahaha a never ending battle!
