So. I finally did it. I edited my first real video! (in that beast Adobe Premiere Pro!)

After days of clicking random buttons in Adobe Premiere, hours of watching tutorials that made me question my IQ, and an embarrassing number of coffee cups later…
I finally did it.

I edited my first video!
And even more shocking — I opened my YouTube channel!!!
It’s going to be my video portfolio and my editing growth diary.
Here’s the debut: My first video on YouTube

Now, before you expect something Spielberg-level…Let me stop you right there!!!
It’s just a practical exercise for beginners in Adobe Premiere Pro, testing the fundamental panels and functions!
But it’s mine. And that makes it perfect in a different way.

Why I decided to dive into video editing

For a long time, I thought:

“I’m a painter. I tell stories with paintings. I don’t need video.”

But then, I realized that the world moves now. Literally.
People scroll, tap, watch, they don’t just read.

And I wanted to speak that new language.
The language of images, emotions, and rhythm.
Because what’s the point of building a brand,
if I can’t translate its energy into something alive and visual?

So, instead of buying yet another “someday I’ll learn this” course…I actually started a "learning by doing" course, because believe me Premiere Pro doesn’t like beginners.
It humbles you real quick. 😅

What I’ve learned (besides how to accidentally delete my whole timeline)

Video editing is patience, presence, and creative flow.

Every project taught me something:

  • That creativity in video editing needs to be channelled in a precise structure
  • That progress shows that everyone of us has a story to tell to the world
  • And that no one gets “good” by staying comfortable.

From a business point of view, here’s the kicker:
Investing in a new skill — even if it feels slow — expands your creative currency.
The more you can express your vision, the more your brand breathes and you open new working opportunities!

Have you ever pushed yourself to learn something completely new,
just because you knew it would stretch you, personally or professionally?

It’s funny how something so technical can become something so personal

To the next video With coffee, courage, and way too many video layers to adjust!!!
Big Bacini!!!

Good morning Romy,

Bravo, for editing your first real video, that's really good!

I must admit that I have never used Adobe Premier Pro, but I'm sure there must be quite a learning curve, do believe it's very good.

I have used Camtasia for years, which is video editing software and screen recording software, it seems to do what I want to do. However, it wasn't until a couple of years ago, that I started going deeper with video editing! I actually enjoy finding out new things that I can do, with the video editor. Having said that, though, there's something quite good about just making raw videos, with no editing. Which apparently, some people are now doing more of, due to time, etc

I look forward to hearing more about your video editing journey, Romy, it's great that you have started.

Incidentally, did you look at any other software, I believe many people use Adobe Premier Pro, it's always interesting what tools people use, and why they use them, etc.

A very happy Friday.

Roy

Ciao Roy,
yeah video editing is the modern language to express ourselves so it cannot be ignored anymore!

Yeah, I tested some different sofwares / app
- Filmora which is extremely good if you need a powerful pro video editor (yearly payement)
- Canva (I avoid it with all my strenght! It is not precise, it often blocks if you have a more complex video to edit, the result is blurry, no way, it is not worthy of my time)
- Edits by Instagram (app) very simple to use (free) for faster editing on the go!

I decided for Adobe Premiere Pro because it is the maximum standard in the industry and with After Effects can help you realize any vision you have in mind!

With my surprise, the learning curve is not so slowly as I imagined, you have to find a very good teacher to speed up your results!

1

Good morning Romy,

Thank you for your detailed reply, it's appreciated.

I do think that video is a great way to get our message across and actually easier than writing, even though I enjoy reading.

When I first started creating videos, in a small way, it seemed like all the Internet marketers were using Camtasia, but it appears that there are quite a few more options now. It's always interesting to hear what other members are using.

I'm not surprised about Canva, I sometimes think that some platforms try and offer too many features, which in turn, makes some of the features not very good.

I find it amazing how some of these platforms, like Instagram, have an editor on their app. I must admit I hardly use a smartphone, apart from for making calls, I much prefer to be working on a PC!

I'm sure that Adobe Premier Pro is a great platform, from what I understand from other video creators. I made a correction to my previous post, I think it read, "I'm going to try Adobe Premier Pro", I didn't mean to say that, I think it may have been my Dragon NaturallySpeaking speech software, but I'm not sure! Anyway, I changed that sentence.

I don't know what your Adobe software is like for training, but Camtasia has some brilliant training, there are also some individual trainers out there, who are very good. When I say individual trainers, I mean people creating videos on YouTube. I'm guessing it's the same for Adobe Premier Pro. I'm really pleased that you are making progress with your software, Romy, that's great news! We never stop learning!

Have a great weekend.

Roy

1

Yeah Roy, training Is an important element for choosing the right software!

I chose Premiere Pro because It Is the maximum standard in the industry since very long time, so you can access to literaly millions of free trainings on Adobe Live (YouTube Channel).

Also many creators have their own classes in case you want to learn any specific effect or video editing technique!

Anyway, your software Is more than ok, mostly now that you can integrate It with Ai videos

1

Good morning Romy,

Yes, I agree, it makes such a difference when we can watch how to videos. There were so many things that I didn't have a clue how to do, a couple of years ago, but with the assistance of these training videos, it's all become clear.

That makes a lot of sense, Romy, choosing Adobe Premiere Pro. Can you record your screen with the software, Romy? Or is it purely editing software, I'm guessing that you can do both? I was fortunate with Camtasia, as it used to be a one-off fee, but I started paying a maintenance agreement, which gives me telephone support and the latest version.

If I purchased Camtasia now, it would be a monthly fee, but I just pay the maintenance fee which is around £60 per year. I was fortunate to be grandfathered in!

The training sounds very similar to the Camtasia training, Romy, with many users creating their own training videos. I think I mentioned that sometimes I prefer other people's training videos to Camtasia's videos, they just seem a bit more clear and down-to-earth!

I'm told that video editing software works on the same principles. I can imagine that there is fierce competition, especially with AI, to keep adding the latest features, etc.

I appreciate you taking the time to give me the information, Romy.

Have a fantastic Sunday.

Roy

Congratulations, Romy, Nice Job. I love the naturalistic theme with especially a picture of a horse. I just finished my first video for my Niche too using Canva. Have a Purposeful Day! Rhonda

1

Ciao Rhonda, thank you so much!!!
Do you find useful editing in Canva? I honestly don't, I tried but I am not happy at all with the result, my video seemed blurry when I exported!

That's why I decided to switch to Premiere Pro! I know it has a long learning curve, but at least all the videos are truly perfect!

I noticed the blurriness too. However when I switched browsers this went away, from Chrome to Mozilla. I may try another program at another time. I also found the training offered by Neil @ magistudios helped a lot. You're welcome

1

ah ok, so if you noticed the blurriness it must be a canva reduction of video quality! Thank you!!

Not entirely sure it is due to Canva. I thought it might have to do with browser settings. However, if you found something you are happier with then that makes sense especially for creative activities like making videos. You're welcome 2nd time😁

1

Job well done , thank you for sharing.

1

Just the first step taken Acken! But I can feel inside me it will have a great impact on my business journey!!!

What is important is to remain focused.

Suomii, this is creative courage in motion
Your post is a beautiful reminder that growth begins where comfort ends.
Moving from brushstrokes to Premiere Pro isn’t just a technical leap, it’s a bold expansion of your artistic voice. You’re not just clicking buttons; you’re learning to speak a new visual language, one that brings your brand to life in motion and emotion.
And here on WealthyAffiliate, this kind of transparency is gold. You didn’t just share a video, you shared the messy, caffeinated, humbling journey behind it. That’s what makes it powerful.
Nobody gets good by staying comfortable. that line hit home. It’s the essence of what we do here: stretch, stumble, learn, and rise.
Your YouTube channel won’t just be a portfolio, it’ll be a living journal of your evolution. Can’t wait to see how your storytelling unfolds, one layer (and one too many video tracks 😅) at a time.

Have a great day Suomii

2

Thank you so much Claude! Yeah it is extremely important to document your small steps forward! Today is just a video, tomorrow could be a youtube channel which brings your highest income!!!

It's important to decide: which skill do I need to learn that will help my growth the most?

That's why I decided for video editing!

Personally, I'm interested in video editing because it's a very practical way to express our thoughts in just a few words.

1

I agree! It's a very practical skill that can help us to express our brands better! This is the modern language and we cannot be left behind!

1

There are several apps available, and it's all about choosing the one you're most comfortable with. I’ve created my own YouTube channel and I’m learning how to manage the content. You’re clearly a pro, and I’m confident you’ll be able to help me grow!

1

can you give me your youtube channel link? so I check it out!
