Could anyone please let me know whether we should index the categories and tags of a post or page. Recently I came across a SEO tutorial site in which they stated that we must

I think All in One plugin takes care about it. As far as I understand post/page is indexed as a single unit.

but the tags that i created for a particular post are also getting indexed in google which I came to know has to be avoided. So please let me know how to no index the tags

In fact I use a plugin to have tags for pages as well, so I want to have tags.

When you go to Webmaster it gives you indexed pages and posts, they are always indexed as single units. If what you say is correct Webemaster would give you hundreds of indexed units, which is not the case.

But they can be RANKED through tags and any other word, so this is not a problem, this can only be good. It may be that I do not understand the matter correctly. Perhaps what you call indexed is what I call ranked.

Hi jvranjes sorry for troubling you again. Just want to clarify my problem more clearly. My scenario is i created a post and i created 3 tags for it. Now when i search for indexed pages in google for that particular post i was able to find 4 indexes for that single post, 1 for the post title and the other 3 are for the tags that i used for the post. So is it ok, will it affect my site ranking or my site in any way. Or should i no index those 3 tags for my post?

The problem is I do not understand what you are saying. In Webmaster you go for example in Crawl, Sitemaps, you will see how many of your posts/ pages are indexed. In my case it shows 149 which is exactly the same as the number of posts+pages. I have many tags for each of them.

I have feeling you are talking about ranking in Google and then this is good. This is not 'indexed' in Google, this is 'ranked' in Google. So keep it as it is all is fine.

thanks a lot and that clarified my doubt

Can anyone please help me out to find the good Review summary plugin for my site. I want the rating to appear in my home page also. Please suggest me a good one for my site.

I would do this without plugin. But see some discussion here

Hi jvranjes, could you please guide me on how to do this without plugin as you are saying.

Use some numbers like 9/10 or 18/20, and/or graphical way to show your rating. That is what I am doing.

Hi Everyone, please help me on how to remove the borders of a featured image in all my blog post. It spoils the look of my site. Please take a look at my site

Hello,

Actually, that is by design that the image is "broken'...
Again it is in the .entry-thumbnail and there you will see:
width: 250px;
height: 175px;

That means that the thumbnail only 250px on 175px displays, all the rest is not visible...

In my opinion, it is not a good solution to change the px values.
I would create a separate featured image and try to meet the provided values, but resizing and by selecting the part you really want that people can see...
You save this adapted image, you upload it to your site and you select it as featured image...

Grtz,
Bert

Thank you very much for the help that you provided

You are very welcome! :-)

Hello,

Actually, you should go to your style.css (appearance - editor - and there at the bottom on the right side, you can select style.css)
and search for "entry-meta" there you will find (at of the entries in the CSS) that there are 2 values: color: #999 & fontsize 9 em.

Delete the line with "color" and save the file (update file button).

Then the borders should be gone, when you doubt on what you are doing, just come back for more info...

Grtz,
Bert

Hi Ignorant, I tried the above method but still the borders are there in the featured image.

You are right, it was not the correct place, it is: .entry-thumbnail you have to search on .entry-thumbnail and delete the border line, this will do the trick...
Now I am pretty sure....

I would add the line for entry-meta back as it was...

Grtz,
Bert

Thanks a lot Ignorant. I had spent nearly 2 days trying to remove this border and you saved me. I have another issue with the featured image. The featured image is not coming fully and it is getting broken. You can see my website. Could you please help me on this one too.
