What is love?

Love is something we all desire but it is something that often times eludes us. Why, because love

means something different to everyone.

To a mother love can mean the sweet kisses and warm hugs her children give to on a daily

basis or the tender touches and kisses she receives from her husband.

To a teenager it could mean the affection one receives from ones parents or the friendships

you can rely on from your peers.

To a hopeless romantic love can mean candlelight dinners, rose petals, a boutique of roses

champagne and chocolate.

To a man love can mean providing for his family on a daily basis, putting a roof over their

heads, having family dinners and going to his children different school activities.

To siblings love may mean being there for each other in good and bad time, protecting

each other, fighting, having differences in opinion, sharing with each other and been best friends.

To a simpleton like me love is knowing I can count on you whenever, opening a door for

not just me but other as well, family reliance, meaningful conversations, thankfulness to God,

appreciation of my blessings and the glowing look of love that my daughter has in her eyes. That

was not always my view, I was a hopeless romantic but as I have gotten older my view has changed.

Why, because we grow in life, whether we like it or not and with growth and maturity comes

changes.

I like that my view of love has changed because now I know what is really important when it

comes to love.

Some think that love is always peachy and filled with roses but it is actually the opposite.

Love sometimes mean saying you are sorry even though you are in the right just to maintain peace,

love is forgiveness even though it can be hard (forgiveness does not mean you forget, it just means

you choose to forgive the person and move on), love means showing kindness to not just to your

relatives but to everyone you meet. Love is showing compassion, love is giving a listening ear,

love is just being there without saying anything because it is what is needed at the time and love

is much more.

Love hurts at times, it makes your heart shatter to pieces and you feel like you are unable

to go on or even move on but that is just a feeling that is temporary. The hurt heals it may not be

today, tomorrow, next month, a year time but as time passes the hurt heals and we find ourselves

loving again.

Each love for the persons in our lives are different and that is a fact. We love our parents,
siblings, children, spouses, friends and families all differently, that is why I say everyone love is
different. You may not agree with all that is said but it worth taking a look at and maybe coming
up with your own view of love. Let me know what do you consider as love, I would love to hear.

I agree with 95% of what you say Sue-Ann. The only thing I noticed when reading was about forgiveness. I have learned that forgiveness is for yourself, not the other person. It is about releasing the emotions and being able to move on.

I hope you enjoy the community here at WA. I haven't been here long but everyone is very helpful. Best wishes and good luck!
