Wish Me Luck - I Will Need It
Incredible that nearly 30 years ago this young lady entered my life and tomorrow she will be joining the love of her life in marriage. There has been much water under the bridge from boo-boos to emergency room visits and the loss of pets to the loss of boyfriends and though it all I have been a shoulder to lean on.
The wedding will have less than 100 attendees based on Ali's desire to have a small ceremony. My bride of thirty plus years have been round and round on this, but in all, they met down the middle. Again, I have been there as a shoulder to lean on.
Learning to ride a bike, hitting and catching a softball for league play, driving a car, father-daughter dances, and restoring our relationship after long deployments overseas are some of our times that come to mind. Once more, I have been there as a shoulder to lean on.
So, tomorrow, I walk her down the aisle, and as I hand the bride over to groom, it must also remember to hand over a small set of tools and equipment to:
- Allow him to pull up the toilet when she shoves dog bones down the toilet.
- Enable him to suck water out of the carpet when she plugged the sink to see what would happen and forgot about it.
- Prepare him to repair the stairway in the garage when she sneezes when parking the car and takes out the stairs.
- Make him ready for all the unexpected things that come with joining another.
Of course, I was there for her to be a shoulder to lean on and I always will be. Wish me luck with my new job in life which is hopefully to be a shoulder for grandkids to lean on.
I hope you all have a great day and fifty plus going on fifteen can be difficult at times.
Take care and thanks for stopping by.
Jay

Hi Jay,
Congratulations!! Wishing the bride and groom all the happiness and love that your family seems to already have! May it be carried on to this future generation!
Blessings,
Tiger
Best wishes Jay!
Believe me she will still need you. My Dad is 91 and I’m 60-something (LOL)
and he is still my shoulder.
Loved your heartwarming stories of a few of her escapades growing up.
Those are the memories that will live in your heart forever.
Have a wonderful weekend!
