Dear WA community,

I've been out of action lately due to travelling for medical treatment.

Two countries, three states and five lockdowns and managed quarantine it was exciting, but stressful at times.

But I'm back and ready to 'rock and roll' when I'm not studying law part time (its like my degree in what it (legally ;-) means to be a citizen I can be found just being a classic nerd.

I figured I would focus on existing 'quality' affliate products that resonate with my own interests and correspond with those of the market, given the:

1) time it takes to create new electronic products and the many years of experience required to be useful in onces niche.

2) cost and speed of shipping physical products (certainly other than amazon prime has seen shipping slow down and often more expensive than pre COVID (there, I said it! but you know what:

3) how many good people have already put together quality products that not enough people are benefiting from in their lives.

4) success is a series of small wins (like dont travel in certain places you can get stuck or stay and blog instead or travel on your yacht)

5) being subject to distraction and life getting in the way.

6) The power of enthusiasm - knowing ones subject and having the catalyst of being enthuastic it appears to make sense to focus on affliate marketing.

I would have no hestitation in recommending WA hosting and community, however I have not done that training yet and will focus on simpler products that are also reliable but traditional unless someone suggests otherwise.

Having been out to the youtube to fill up on ideas (yes there are lots of promoters out there too!) I came across this interesting Affiliate marketers glossary I thought it would be worth sharing.

The reason for sharing is its occured again to me, the more one knows, the more one realises they do not know.

Terms like:

EPC = Earnings per Click

AOV = Average Order Value = revenue by number of sales generated)

APV have no relative meaning until they are actually understood.

LTV or CLTV - Lifetime Value or Customer Lifetime value = how much is that customer financially worth to you in your lifetime. Apparently its very important and is necessary to determine if its worth acquring customers.

CPA - cost per acquisition = the actual cost to get a customer

CTR - Click through rate = % of visitors hitting a website that click through to next step

CR - conversion rate (percentage of people who saw and bought)

CPM - Cost per million (usually cost per thousand) how much are you paying per one thousand communications divided by how many 'impressions' you are getting.

ROAS - Return on Ads spent = how much money did you make compared to on the money you spent revenue

PPC - Pay per click

Tracking Links = your dedicated link that gets embedded in a webpage or dropped into facebook etc ties to your account that pays you

Hoplink = clickbank tracking link

Can install a tester for links called a link redirect extension for example Google Chrome browser. This sounds very useful.

OTO - One Time Offer = The part often at checkouts that upsells the purchaser on buying more products.

Landing page - the main page the affliate link is going to direct people to to purchase the products. The highest converting sales page you have is your main landing page - this page is designed to sell, its not the home page.

VSL - Video Sales Letter = the video one watches to purchase a product. Product often solves a problem.

TSL - Text Sales Letter - a text and possibly image based sales letter.

ESP - Email service provider - the software you used (usually cloud based) that does the email campaigns from.

CRM - Customer relationship management software - tracks leads through their journey, can see how a customer is doing, like a two way interaction.

Hope all that helps, it certainly was useful for me and wishing you all a lovely day!

Brook

Excellent, Brook! Great information, and I'm glad you weathered the storm and are back!

Jeff

Thanks Jeff, great to hear from, hope you are well and you glad you liked it. It's nice to be able to keep up as the industry evolves, things have sure changed a lot since I started on a typewriter...

Brook

I know exactly what you mean, Brook! My first book, on which my entire series is based upon was written on a typewriter!

Jeff

That is impressive Jeff, I hope it was one of the newer ones with the correction tape feature. I can now see why typing accuracy was such a big thing back then. One of my friends is using a DVORAK keyboard from back then and he loves it, he learnt the more efficient typing language as apparently QWERTY was specifically designed to slow down typing so the individual hammers on the typewriter. Now of course, there is voice dictation....

I did part of it on an old manual one, but then bought one with correction tape, Brook!

Years later, I used MS Word to type all the other ones. (of course, I free-handed them first)

I am looking into voice to text possibilities for the sequel series!

Jeff

Thought you might Jeff :-) It was a real struggle to get the legal guys to give up Wordperfect for MS Word I can tell you!

I'll bet it was, Brook! Here is to our writing success!

Jeff

Cheers, thanks Jeff, indeed.
