Who are you?
That's the question I kept asking myself over and over as I was contemplating my niche. When I saw this rose in a photo my wife took, I realized there was much about myself I didn't know.
Why make a big deal out of it?
Well, if this was my first go at creating a website and working with Wordpress, I wouldn't. Getting into the basics of the online world of websites, social media hosting and the likes around six months ago, I gave myself the freedom to experiment and just start. This lead to a test site and a basic site for my offline business which already brought in new business enough to cover the hosting and domain costs of these two sites for the next year and a bit.
After joining WA however, I realized that this was the real deal and that I wasn't only going to learn a few more nice things to try and implement. This, as most here know, will take persistent dedication and commitment into mastering the online marketing field. For myself and most others here, that will comprise of learning LOTS of new skills and building many new competencies. And for this reason, I'm making a big deal out of it.
If I'm going to spend most of my surplus time and energy on succeeding in online marketing, it had better be doing something I love.
Power vs. Force
Most have heard of Power vs. Force by David Hawkins, but a practical example for me would be in my WA journey. To me, Force would be pushing myself through the training courses, doing my level best to monetize what I've learned. Conversely, Power would be to work through the training courses, applying what I've learned in the context of who I am, what I love and what I'm good at. This way, I know I would be adding value, both here to the community at WA, as well as in the market. I'm glad that the training and blogs from Kyle I've read so far, is very much congruent with this idea.
What to do next?
Now it's time to get quiet, get rid of all the clutter in your thoughts and start peeling back the layers of who you really are. Blocking out all secondary motives and agendas. Once you know what truly makes you tick, choosing a niche will be a natural, organic process. There's a set of questions you can ask yourself to help facilitate the process and perhaps I will do a post on this as I continue on my own journey of self-discovery.
Please let me know if you're interested and if this post at all helped or inspired you. As always, feel free to comment, critique or advise openly. - I feel this is a safe space and would appreciate your feedback.
To our success,
Stian.
