Google Finally Trusts Me! . a little bit.
So for the past few weeks I have been 100% on all aspects of site health other than plugins (I have 6) and Google Trust.
I've not been worried about the plugin aspect, because my site speed has been great, but the "trust" issue has been driving me a bit crazy, mainly because I have been a bit impatient...
Today, I finally had a breakthrough and my Site Trust went up finally, to 10%!
I realise that this is bugger all, but it goes to show that I am doing something right.
How Did I Get There?
I made the first post to my site on the 15th of Aug, just over a month ago. Since then I have focused on putting as much content on my site as I can.
I have made 30 posts (average 1000 words) and 4 pages (3 of which are privacy policy, disclosure, contact page) and have used WA Site Comments quite a bit. In fact, I have made 23 comments, but have received more than that back.
In the last week, I have slowed down a bit on the content aspect and focused on social media and trying to work out the best ways to get trust from Google.
Some of those things included:
- Adding more internal links to my site
- Adding a couple of external links to trusted sites to my site
- Fixing a couple errors in Google Search Console, that had been there for over a week.
- Adding my URL to all my social media accounts. Even the ones that I rarely use. These include Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Pinterest, Instagram, Parler, Gab, LinkedIn
- Signing up to Medium.com and began to import my blogs into my profile, which include links to my posts.
- Working out why my Google Analytics wasn't getting any data. I hadn't put the tracking code into my site... der..
Now, I don't know if which one (if any) of these things were a catalyst to finally getting a notch on the trust belt, but I'm not complaining.
Personally, I think it has much to do with all of those things combined with consistency of putting content over time that has helped with this achievement.
Content Over Looks
As I mentioned, I have mainly focused on trying to write quality content over trying to make it look good. That's not to say that it looks bad, but it is a very basic but functional design that I feel is pretty easy to navigate,
I am happy with if for now, but I will need to work on the style and design more as I go on.
At this point, I am not getting a lot of traffic but it will be interesting to see if this small amount of "trust" will help my rankings a bit and I get improved traffic over the coming days.
I also don't have many affiliate links on my site either, but this is what I will be focusing on in the coming weeks.
There is still a long road ahead, but I feel that I have broken a barrier today.
Cheers
Stevie

Stevie, great blog. Just one caveat, you can’t put your website link on a blog. Just a friendly reminder. Otherwise, fantastic!

No problem Stevie. Just didn’t want you to run afoul of the blog police 😂
You can put your link on your profile. Keep blogging!

That’s a good looking website Stevie.
You have put a lot of work into it and it shows. In my opinion, it deserves “Trust“ but that’s just me, Google makes the rules.
