Target Audience Training
Several weeks ago after I was accepted to the Super Affiliate Challenge program at Wealthy Affiliate, I was encouraged to revisit all of the Level 1 training for the training program "Affiliate Bootcamp". That review has made all the difference in my abilities to research great keywords, and write compelling posts. If you haven't already done so, I highly recommend you do.
Lesson 2 - Choosing Your Direction is so full of important information, I think they should have made that its own level of training. Please take your time in that module. It will definitely take more than 1 day to really focus and get all the "meat". Within that training is a Tutorial called "Target Audiences for Wealthy Affiliate". It made such an impact on me, I decided to print it off to keep it handy for reference. If you talk to my wife, she will tell you I don't believe in using paper! I don't print anything, because it is hard to keep up with and more importantly it adds weight to suitcases when we move. But I printed this. It was 12 pages of some of the best info I've gotten anywhere.
This training is really important. But when Kyle decided to break down one target audience in detail, that was when the lights finally went on for me. He spent 8 pages analyzing and identifying keywords for "Minimum Wage Workers". According to Kyle, "What better audience than the minimum wage worker audience?" He then proceeded to identify 11 great keywords. On the last page, he shows us how to use these keywords to write posts that promote WA to this audience.
The point is not for us all to promote WA to Minimum Wage Workers. Kyle is teaching us "how to fish! Earlier in the training, he gives us an entire page of recommended target niches. He then gives us 1 1/2 pages of "demographic based audiences" to start with. At the conclusion of that section, Kyle makes a bold statement:
"With what we have already given you, you could easily scale a campaign to make over $1 million per year...In fact, if you put your effort into just one of these target audiences, you could likely make that with just one."
For me, this training gave me the idea I had been looking for. Within a day, I had made my decision on my target audience - Baby Boomers (retired and soon to be retired) with very little savings who need extra income. Since I'm here as a premium member of WA, I obviously need to make more income. And I'm "smack-dab" in the middle of the Boomer generation. So it is a perfect fit.
This week, I found 50 low-competition keywords for this target audience, and it wasn't that hard. And there is so much about WA and MMO that is perfect for this audience. I'm finishing my third 1000+ word post, and I feel confident that I can write 9 more in the next 3 weeks.
