Site Build It Vs Wealthy Affiliate

Several years before I discovered Wealthy Affiliate, I was an SBI owner. While I don't want to bash Site Build It, they definitely didn't live up to the hype in their videos or sales pages. In fact, I never renewed for a second year since I didn't really learn anything about building a website that gets traffic.
Sure, I had a decent looking website, but it wasn't making me any money and I didn't know if it ever would. I didn't learn how to analyse my traffic (if I had any) or what I needed to do to monetize it. I really didn't learn much of anything.
The keyword research tool didn't give very accurate monthly search data in my opinion and I never learned how to properly do keyword research.
It wasn't very easy to get from the community either. They do have a forum but helpful are they? You may have to wait a day or two to get an answer if you get one at all.
I could make a pretty substantial list of the advantages to learning internet marketing through Wealthy Affiliate over SBI but I just wanted to mention a couple of them here.
The way the training is laid out here at WA and the ability to tap into so much wisdom and experience in real time is enough of reason to choose WA over SBI in my humble opinion.
Are there any other ex-SBI owners here who would like to share your thoughts?

I think there is a glaringly obvious clue in the way the two are named. Site Build It will help you build a site. Wealthy Affiliate will help you become wealthy as an affiliate.
Good point, but SBI does lead you to believe that you will learn to turn your passion into a thriving business.
Sounds like SBI are a bit out of touch. Or do you think they are deliberately misleading people?
I don't believe they are trying to mislead people. I just don't think they can offer what WA does. Dollar for dollar, WA is a much better value in my opinion.
I'm not a former SBI owner but I did join a similar one. It was always a 24 hour wait to get help from the help desk & than they would, quite often, only answer part of my question. It was almost as if they didn't read the entire question. Even worse, they would sometimes misinterpret what I was asking. I would than have to wait another 24 hours. When I asked questions in the forums, I never seemed to get an answer that was helpful --- that's if I got an answer at all.
I also didn't learn much because I never seemed to get help when I really needed it. I was always stuck on something. The company came nowhere close to WA.
When I ran into a couple of problems here, the help desk fixed my problem within a hour. WoW!!! When I transferred my website here, once again, WA offered to do it for me as I didn't have the knowledge to do it myself. Another WoW!!! I couldn't believe it, they didn't even charge me.
When you're learning affiliate marketing, there is NO BETTER PLACE to be.

I also took SBI for one year. For me, they taught concepts similar for keyword research and use when writing an article. They had their own platform for building webpages, and they had tons of videos. They also had quite a bit of case studies to look at.
That was about 8 years ago. I don't know what they have now, but I do like the setup we have here at WA. If SBI only has a forum, then, I find getting help from WA a lot better, because you get answers very quickly here. Live chat also helps, and Kyle's and Carson's recent design for siteComments really gets the WA community to participate.
I actually tried a few other programs simultaneously with WA before this, but I tell you, nothing comes even close to WA. Well, Affililorama was really good actually, but the upsells were simply too annoying for me.

When I left WA... I looked at several tools / utilities. I became such a huge fan of site Rubix. When you don't have anything to compare it to you sometimes don't recognize the value of what you have. Wa rocks... And I'm not just saying that on emotion I'm saying that because I have seen other Builders.... if you don't know the rest how can you come and intelligently on what is the best.
I think many people who do leave WA don't have other experiences to compare it to. I often envy the people who started here first without having to lose time and money elsewhere. On the other hand, when people don't know what's "out there", they may think that a cheaper and better alternative exists. I've looked and I don't believe it does exist.
Hi Steve, I was with SBI for a few months few years ago. If I remember right, they charged more for their membership.
Actually, SBI is a little cheaper if you only plan to build 1 website. The annual fee is $299 but the extra $60 per year you pay for WA is so worth the cost.
Plus with WA you don't pay full price to build additional websites. You are paying for training that is constantly updated and the tools which I find incredibly useful. Why anyone would charge on a "per website" basis is beyond me.
You are on the money with SBI! I used them in the past but they go for the highest ranking keywords and there's way too much competition.
Here's something funny ... I used to buy an ad with a bonsai site b/c the owner was ranked pretty high up there (as far as bonsai goes). The owner used SBI. After just 6 months of transferring my site to WA and blogging at least once a week, my ranking has now surpassed the SBI site owner.
Just an example of how WA is so much more superior and advanced than anything else on the market today!

I think with most build a site services if you have done nothing like this before do not suit you I did try one and after it was built thought what next.. WA not only show you how to build but the teach us what to do with it
