Interesting SEO discovery
I was doing a Google search earlier and came across one of those things that make you go, hmmm. It wasn't keyword research this time. A friend of mine posted a video of her dog eating ice cream and I wondered how good of an idea this was. So I Googled it.
What I found interesting was that the 10th result on the first page was a YouTube video that didn't have these words anywhere in the video description although they were in the meta description.
This was the 10th result on page 1
When I clicked on this video, I found that this was just one of thousands of comments left on this particular video.
This person may never make a dime from this video, but this shows you the importance of comments and that they can help you rank for things you never thought of. Especially with video.

That is interesting and perhaps we need to think more about youtube to in promoting our sites
She bought it from an ice cream parlor. She's a veterinarian so she probably knows what sh'es doing:)
Most animals are lactose intolerant and that is the problem. Which she probably knows (yes) and homemade is a lot of work.
That is interesting, comments are a powerful thing. How are you making out with your videos Steve?, I remember you made one a few months ago. If you have others let me know so I can comment on them:)
That is really cool of you to offer:) I'll give a link to my YouTube channel. Some likes would be great too. I get compliments on my videos but no likes....lol

My pleasure Steve, that's what friends are for. Don't worry, when I need help I'll be contacting you lol:)
I see how valuable they can be. Unfortunately, I get 50-60 spam comments per day, but only one genuine comment from an actual reader per month. So I take those very seriously.
Thanks Steve..
Same here. Luckily I don't get that many spam comments, though. I've actually removed captcha hoping that will help me get more comments.
I'm in the same boat as you there. Those worthless comments are so bizarre sometimes that they probably would't end up as search terms anyways:)
You know, I removed the captcha too, just about a month ago. My spam comments have doubled since then. It's getting ridiculous. But the captcha slowed my page load time so much, getting rid of it cut that time almost in half.
I got rid of it a while back after someone brought up the idea that users can't stand captcha, so you may be losing comments. Since I find it annoying too I decided to give it a try. Hasn't helped with more comments, but I don't get enough spam to really need it. Besides Akismet is so good at filtering that they all go directly to spam anyway.

It makes me consider going back and looking at my meta description. Would that work that same when you label an image too?
It would work for an image if someone did an image search.
Ok great to know thx so much! ;-)
