Are You Requesting Comments For The Right Pages?
Many of us are using the new Site Comment feature and it has been a pretty successful program so far. When I am looking around for sites to comment on, I often have to pass on the first one I see since I can't add anything meaningful to the conversation.
One particular recurring theme I see within requests is for comments on WA reviews. I don't comment on those and I'll explain a coupe of reasons why.
- Requesting comments is something to help our articles rank better (hopefully). It's going to be pretty tough to knock any of the top ranked WA reviews off the front page and most of the traffic your WA reviews will be a result of internal linking. Therefore, I believe you're better off requesting comments on an article that links to your WA review.
- When "outsiders" do find your WA review, they're going to see a bunch of other WA members leaving glowing reviews which makes it look less genuine in my opinion.
Making The Most Of Your Comments
Whether your "money pages" are your WA review or whatever it is you sell on your site, it makes more sense to find out which of your articles sends the most traffic to your money pages and work on boosting the rankings for those pages.
You can do this by analyzing Behavior Flow in Google Analytics. I posted a training on this a while back. You can access it here. https://my.wealthyaffiliate.com/training/analyzing...
If you don't currently have visitors flowing to your "money pages", you may need to do some work on those. Ask around if you have to, you WILL get help.
WA has created a great tool for us to receive quality comments on our sites. Make the most of it.

I have noticed that when looking at a lot of the website comments, it does look pretty hokey because it is too obvious that the comments are coming from fellow WP members :-)
Yes, preaching to the choir isn't as helpful as getting genuine comments on other articles. It makes more sense to boost the rank on a page that outsiders will see as well.
Makes sense I try and just give an impartial comment when its a WA review, but it is difficult as you say since we are already in WA .. thank you for highlighting this
When I leave comment on a WA review page I pretend I am not a member. Rather, I write my comment as if I am interested in starting an online business and just doing some research.
Nicely played. Most people don't think to leave comments that way. Especially new people and I can understand that. It took me a while to figure many things out :)
Ya. I can see that being the case with new people. However I also think a bit of common sense is involved. I have been leaving comments this way all along. Maybe I'm the odd one ;)
It means you can look at things from someone else's point of view. That should serve you well in this business :)
Excellent info Steve - good eye!
I will also stress for those who are new - you WILL certainly get help so please ask.
ROCK ON!

Yeah, I think many people are afraid to ask for help out of fear of being a burden but WA is the place to ask questions.
