Motivation Is Garbage.Really?

I have just watched a tiny snippet of video that popped up through a facebook success group I am creating.

It had the controversial and kinda counter-intuitive title...

Motivation Is Garbage, it featured quite a well-known author in a niche that should be pretty apparent from the name of the video. It felt a little tacky to place an affiliate link here to the book that she has, that this concept was taken from :D

It struck a chord with me, when she said no matter how motivated you are, even if you've whipped yourself up into a peak state.

Doing the tough things, the crumby things or the plain old boring little things that could improve your life is not sexy or cool and no matter how you feel, this is still gonna be the case.

We naturally do the simple, easy, fun things that appeal to us in each microsecond of the day.

Even when we absolutely KNOW what we should be doing, if it doesn't fall into the above category, It's out the window.

Do you ever think about those small, seemingly insignificant and inconsequential decisions that we make constantly they have the capacity and power to send our lives in a completely different direction if we seize the moment and act with courage, determination and even to some extent, logic?

After all, we know that logically these choices that we consciously make to play it safe, avoid risk and stick to a familiar path can keep us stagnant, predictable and SAFE.

Isn't that exactly the case? That any decision that sees us sticking to our same old routine is based on safety, insulation from change, fear, doubt.

Protection from failure keeps us in a pattern that feels like slipping on an old comfy pair of shoes.

BUT logically we know consciously that these things offer us growth, fulfillment and a life that we could only ever dream of if we just follow through and make a deliberate decision to progress along the path to our dreams.

However, there is a certain aspect of "preaching to the choir" musing about this here.

We who are here have made at least one fantastic decision based on

What if?

Why not me?

What have I got to lose?

Otherwise, we wouldn't even be here. We have a mental reference point already of taking a moment and trying our damnedest to fashion it into something better.

No mountainous revelations here, no earth shattering truths from me.

I just wanted to comment on my musings on a simple but potentially explosive (for our life and success) concept, and as is so often the case with my funny mind, (as I euphemistically call it.

Now that I have shared it, my head feels able to attempt the next task.

Hope your day is a magnificent one : )

Most interesting and informative...thanks.

Thanks Arthur. Just more of my nonsensical ramblings, nice to have a platform to unload them nowadays, it means I can free some space in my head to fill with more "stuff" : )
