Hi everyone,

I have a fairly new website that has about 20 posts on it. I am reviewing and changing my niche and thinking of removiing my posts. Most of the posts have a

keep it there!

As Lily says below, Steven, because since its all set up, you could occasionally post to your old website, and who knows, you might even make a few $$ off of ti too.

Thanks Jeff. Yeah I think I will take the advice I am getting here from all of you here... :-)

Great decision--your old site might turn out to be a gold mine!

I think you should keep them and start a new website for your new niche with the knowledge you have now. You won't be penalised if you just leave them there, so start fresh.

Lily 😊🎵

Thanks Lily!

I don't think Google will penalise you for removing your own posts - it's your website after all. But if you have posts that have ranked in Google, think about how you could use that exposure to support the changes in your niche that you want to make. If you are moving into a related niche, you could keep these posts to maintain your growing authority.

If you are looking at a totally new niche, I would still hang onto your posts but create a new website altogether so that visitors don't get confused.

Good points. I could just leave this site here and start a new one with a new identity altogether and maybe come back to this one later... or maybe archive all these posts so that they are still there but I will not have any menu items linking to it from the home page.

Just a quick few questions
Do you mean they are ranked or indexed? When a site is indexed Google has found it.That means it might be on page 5489 but when it is ranked it comes down in number say to page 10 at first. If you have done your keyword research correctly and finding low hanging fruit you should see that number go down until a few pages are page 1

Second question why would you eant to delete them?

Some have been ranked but is only in the top 5 pages if I searched the exact keywords (i.e. including them in btwn the quotes). Reason is I am finding my topics completely scattered and I couldn't really think of how I would be incorporating them into my new plans for the site. I thought of moving these posts into an Archived category and still leave them there - but wondering if its better if I deleted them completely.

I wouldn't if it were me I would chalk it down to experience it's great you have worked out there is a better way just go on and write with a clearer purpose and of course navigation

Thanks Catherine.

Hi everyone, I guess I am thrilled and excited that my post is found on the 1st page search results on Google but at the same time, I feel a little stumped and was hoping that

I'm experiencing the same thing in Amazon kindle, Steven--if I type in all the keywords--all my books are found right away, but leave on off and they're never found. Therein lies the crux of both our situations how to get found without all the key words! It seems you have good answers below too!

Jeff

Hi Jeff, look at Catherine's response above. It cleared the air for me. Good luck to you!

Thanks Steven!

Jeff

if you are looking ina search engine then you look by title ie '5 Best Hobbies for the New Year', if you are looking in the paid version of Jaaxy you would type in your URL and then the keywords and it tells you but that is not available in the Lite version. However, you don't appear to be on the first page you need to look in an incognito window your search engine is remembering your searches I think

Thank you Catherine. You are right. Jaaxy (I'm using the version that comes with WA Premium) did not find my post on the first page of Google for all the keywords I used.

Gotta keep trying.
