How to improve your life?

When I started working I took the advice of my father. "Banking is a stable career". Well I must agree it was stable but so boring. At this stage of my life I sat down and took stock of what I had and also what I wanted. I had a house, a wife and kids. My work colleagues were great. However I found I wanted more. I wanted more freedom. I did not like having only 20 days a year holiday as this meant I had little time with the kids. Especially as I worked Saturdays as well. I just went to work at 7.30 came home around 6. Then had tea and put the kids to bed. There must be more to life than this?

Another major issue was I found the work boring, doing the same thing day after day. It was not rewarding. So I took a look at what I wanted. More time with the family and a rewarding career.

This could be a problem. What I wanted to do was teaching and to help people achieve. The problem being could we afford to survive on my wife’s nursing salary and a grant for training? We took a risk and I qualified as a teacher and the job at first was great.

I loved the reward when students thanked you after receiving their grades. I had loads of holidays and shorter working days. So a lot more family time, and the salary was good. So I did teaching for years. However over time it was not the profession I had entered any more.

Due to government changes on discipline, pupils were becoming more and more unruly. The syllabuses were dumbed down and so easy to pass. Modular coursework meant students could do one unit and then forget it. I found myself saying, "What happened to education, real learning not just fun lessons?

I was yearning to go back to old fashioned teaching where you learnt everything and had one final exam. This was not to be the case. Then there came the great idea of ranking schools on exam grades not improvement in pupil’s achievement. So this lead to more paperwork to be completed for inspections and government information. The job became too pressured and not enjoyable any more. Hours increased as did meaningless meetings. So I needed to rethink again. My wife said I had to get out as she could see I was not happy any more. This time we needed a new plan.

So we looked at on line marketing. We wanted to find out How to make money on line. There were obviously lots of people doing it, there were plenty of gurus who had made millions, drove nice cars, and had loads of holidays and massive mansions. This is what they advertised. We decided this would give us all the freedom we wanted. We could work when we wanted, and also travel when we wanted. So we looked at different ways to earn on line and tried a few and failed. Obviously not all the GURUS where telling the truth. You soon learn what a scam is and what is not.

Eventually success happened. It was risky and at first I continued doing supply and private teaching as I needed to support the family as well. So as our business progressed I was able to give up teaching all together. With the right system and training you can succeed and earn on line.

My advice is that you should sit down. Look and write what you have at present.

Future prospects.

Discuss these with your partner or friends. Come up with a list of what you actually want and what you want in the future. Then look at the way forward and how you can achieve this. It is probably the hardest decisions or decisions that you will ever make. After all we all have responsibilities both financially and personally. However if you do not take the step forward you will always look back and regret it.

You could like I did just start slowly and as it builds up, then totally replace your old lifestyle. Now I have a career where I am helping others. I have the free time I want and work the hours I want. Life is pretty much perfect; there are still things you want though. I want to learn a new language in my spare time, and possibly take up Golf. These things are easily obtainable now, as I have the time to do them. The pressure of work and routine is gone and we are far happier now than we were before.

It is time for hard questions and serious answers!!!
