Still Getting to Grips with Hubs, etc? So Am I!
Hi everyone!
I hope you are all enjoying the 2nd month of the New Year...
After creating a new Hub yesterday, I called the Brand Name and Niche Mindful Moments.
However, on viewing Kyle's training on Website and Brand, when I went to namy.ai, I noticed that domain name was taken.
So I chose another domain name.
Only thing is - when I go to the website - In the top left hand corner is the Brand Name -
My Mindful Moments Site - is this going to appear on every post moving forward?
Secondly, I noticed that when I chose the domain, my Hub and site automatically defaults to Generate Press theme.
When I went to the Dashboard, clicked on Appearance and Themes - Wordpress didn't take me to where I could choose a new theme. It is stuck on Generate Press which I find hard to use.
I want to use a simpler theme,...
Kindly advise...
Thank you.

Hi Stella,
you can always delete your hub and create it from scratch.
It might solve your problem with WP theme and you will be able
to choose the one you want.
Cheers,
Boris
Thanks Boris, Kyle said he'll look into this for me.
I'll see what he says and does before making up my mind...
You believe so Dave? Do you use Premium version of GeneratePress or the standard free version?
I'm rather stuck right now, I preferred choosing and uploading a theme I like the look of...
I'm not used to Generate Press at all...
Hi Stella,
You can change from GeneratePress theme to another of your choice.
I use the standard free version because it's lightweight and fast.
How thi ngs look is overrated. If someone can't get to your site quickly, how it looks doesn't matter.
Before changing to GeneratePress, I had some terrible pagespeed issues and the website moved like a clunker. All of that misery is gone.
My dear, I have my challenges with customization and widget navigation. But, I'm taking my time to learn daily.
If you definitely don't care for the GeneratePress theme, choose another theme and install it.
I hope this helps.
All the best,
Maxine :)
I've noticed that these days, the default theme is Generate Press and you can't change themes in the Dashboard Appearance.
I tried to change the theme but it's just stuck on Generate Press...Not sure what to do...
I've already bought the domain!
In your back office:
1. Go to Tools
2. Click on Site Health
3. Click on Manage themes
Do you see where you can delete GeneratePress? If so, delete.
If not,
4. Go to Themes, it’s right under Appearance
5. Add the new theme of your choice.
6. Check it out thoroughly
7. Start customizing. This is the fun part.
Still stuck? Let me know.
Maxine
Thanks Maxine...
Normally we can change the themes in the Dashboard in Appearance Themes, like you said.
However, for some strange reason, the default theme is Generate Press and there is nowhere to click on for Appearance Themes.
I know how to change a theme because I normally try different themes before I settle on a theme design I like.
However, today it's a different story and I'm really stuck. I was hoping to get quite a lot of work done today, but have had to stall and delay the work due to this theme issue.
As I said above - I went into hubs, chose a niche and brand, then went on to follow the Core Training, then chose a domain, then tried to change the theme which is strangely defaulted to Generate Press.
Really don't understand what's happened here. Because it should be really easy to change the theme.
I can see that some changes to Hubs have happened in the past couple of months. I've been away from WA for a short time and have just noticed this change of Appearance - Themes today.
Any help will be appreciated...
