Losing Self

It's been a long time coming, and I know I'm capable of creating great things. My website has reflected that. I know that perseverance is much needed, but there are times where I just don't feel like picking up my tools to create new content.

Sometimes, I just feel like I've done everything. I've written about everything and I can't find topics that fit my niche (I know there's so many things to talk about), I'm just not feeling motivated enough to keep doing the work. My anxiety is aiming for me to hurry up and create something, while my depression is like "nah you've done enough. let it be".

What I'm trying to say here is that, it's really hard sometimes to stay motivated or even do your diligent work of researching, analyzing, and planning. At times it seems like it's too much for a mentally ill brain to produce something that I'm unsure if it's worthy of even trying. I'm an over-thinker and that can be quite dangerous at times.

This is just a thought and a personal current feeling that I'm struggling with. I hope y'all are doing alright 🦋✨

Hey hun! I think we all have been were you are at one point in our blogging journey. Blogger burnout is a real thing !

As someone who struggles with depression as well, I know all too well how you feel.

Try doing this... (it may help you stay focused and get things done more quickly. It will even help motivate you.)

Break up your writing into small chunks each day. This can help you prevent you from becoming overwhelmed and keep you focused on one task at a time.

You can follow a schedule like this...

Monday- Research blog post ideas and choose one to write about. (To find ideas you can use ChatGPT, look at what others are doing in your niche, head to Pinterest, or use Google's autosuggest or people also ask. )

Tuesday- Research and choose keyword phrase or question. Write your Headings/Subheadings. (Remember to aim for low competition keywords- at least 2 DA of less than 20 and\or user generated content (Quora, Reddit, etc)).

Wednesday- Write your Intro and Conclusion.

Thursday- Write 2 subheadings.

Friday- Write the rest. This varies by each blog post.

Saturday- Add photos and or videos, Proofread, Check Spelling and Grammar, and Publish your post. Remember that once you publish your post it isn't set in stone, you can go back and add to or take away from it later.

Sunday- Break

The more you do this the faster you will become at the tasks and you may eventually put two days in one. You will go from writing 1 blog post a week to writing 2.

I know that it is recommended to write 2-3 blog posts per week BUT as someone just starting out or struggling it can be overwhelming, cause burnout, and lead you to not getting anything done and giving up.

Just know that your mental illness does not define you and that you can overcome this struggle!

I hope this helps!

Lisa Marie

Hi Lisa!

Thank you so much for your input. It’s hard not having any motivation whatsoever to do one’s job, but it’s always helpful when you see somebody else do it and manage to stay on top.

Sending you good vibes! Keep rocking this journey!

You aren't alone in experiencing that. It's actually quite common to feel that you've done all you can do and you don't have one more article in you.

That's when you need a break, a staycation, a change of scenery. Give your mind a rest. Enjoy being outside or with your favorite people and don't spend a moment thinking about your site. You won't lose Google rank just cause you didn't post for a couple of days or a week. But when you come back, it will be fun again and the ideas will flow.

Time to be nice to you!

Thank you for your kind words. I will definitely be distracting myself with things that I love instead of beating myself for not being able to do something at this moment.

Hi Steeph, thanks for sharing your thoughts here! You are not alone in this journey, moreover, never alone even when you find yourself 'like' disconected from your own self: When it does happens I would say to you just relax a bit, step away from all and think of the best moments you had in your life to bring positive emotions from within you and then you will find that this lack of confidence is only dellusionary game from your Ego mind. You are just self questioning, for some greater creative power that you are been guided to follow!!!! Just take all with the flow and do not beat yourself up. Empty your mind and your highest self will take you ahead with grace and easy! Best of lucky!

Thank you so much for your encouragement. It truly means so much to read comments like yours 🦋

Cheers!

Well, Stepp, I hear what you are saying. My son deals with mental illness too. I understand your struggle is real and not something to be brushed off slightly.

That being said, this is the time you need to step up and push through that feeling the most. If for no other reason than it gives you something else to focus on. As beautifully as you just expressed your feelings, it would be a pure waste, to let that talent go to waste.

I hope your next post will be better, but if not, that is ok too. We are all hear to listen and let you know you are loved by a whole lot of folks here. We are all here to listen and give you all the help, if nothing but listening, you need to get through this feeling. Lean on us and before you know it, it will pass.

Tom

These are the sweetest words of encouragement, Tom. Thank you for that and for being so understandable. It’s so important for people to understand that a mental illness is not something you can just “overcome” it as if it was a cold/flu. I’m sorry about your son, I hope he is doing well. Take care 🦋

He has come a long way as I expect you have. Just remember, this is a bump in the road and it is smoother on the other side. If you need to talk more, we are all here for you.

So glad to hear that, Tom. Again, thank you for your kind words. So appreciated!

This post shows that you can express your thoughts well in written form. If you started a new job, and it got tough or boring what would you do? You would keep going because you have to. Keep going here because you have the ability. If you take the lessons and do the practical work this will work for you. Name one thing that you do that hasn't taken time to perfect except maybe eating and sleeping. You probably got lots of bumps and bruises learning to walk, but you learned and it serves you every day.

This was so uplifting! Thank you. And when I first started one of my old jobs back in college, my mental health got so bad that I had to quit due to many episodes of panic attacks. I think it’s a longtime process of taking care of oneself and giving yourself time to understand where are all these feelings coming from.

Let me know if I can help in any way. I am no expert in this, but I can usually at least point you in the right direction.

Again, thank you for your kindness!
