Same Ole/Same Ole

Time stands still for no one. We wake up, go to work, come home and watch a little TV and go to bed. Some of us are trying to fit building a business in where the watching TV part goes.

Our entire waking hours are going into trying to get us ahead in life. While there is absolutely nothing wrong with trying to better yourself and your situation don't forget you need time for yourself.

Stuck In The 9-5

I was stuck in the 9-5 routine. While I did not hate my job completely I knew I didn't want to be stuck behind a desk forever. Once I had my 20 years in (23 to be exact) I decided it was time to cut loose. I decided I wanted to travel. I sold everything, bought an RV and off I went.

Since that time I have visited many more places than I would have if I stayed at my 9-5. I ignored my website and just let it sit in limbo for quite a while. After I went wild visiting different states and sometimes just relaxing, I decided it was time to get back to working on the website.

How Long Have I Been Sitting Here?

So what did I do? You guessed it. Every day I worked on the website. I did my training, did my research, and wound up spending more time sitting at my desk than when I was working full time!!! Sound familiar? There are days when I don't even realize that I am sitting so long. When I finally get up my legs actually hurt!!!

This can't be healthy. All I did was change from my desk at work to my desk in the RV. I decided I needed a balance. I decided I needed a way to get away from the desk and hit the reset button. How would I accomplish that?

Ace In The Hole

Easy, I go exploring. After all that's what my website is all about. I decided that at least once a week I would get out of the RV and off the campground. Sometimes I go out hiking and Geocaching. Sometimes I just go sightseeing. When I am not having a good week and things are just not going well, I pull out my ace in the hole.

Motorcycling!!! I love to ride. When I need a total and complete reset I jump on the bike and ride. Most of the time to no where in particular. Yesterday was one of those days. I felt as if I was stuck in the same old rut. Time to ride.

300 Miles!!!

I jumped on the bike and rode over 300 miles through the Southern California desert!!! I found a random recreation center called the Salton Sea Rec area and just parked, ate a snack and stared at the water. When I finally arrived back home I was exhausted.

Off to bed I went. I had the best sleep that I have had in over 2 months!!! Today I am back working on the website and completely rested. So, that is how I hit my rest button. How about you? How do you hit your reset button?

It is important to have some sort of outlet to give yourself a break. For me it's enjoying our three Siberian Huskies, who are a constant source of snuggles and laughs. I, too, find that taking a break now and then means I'm much fresher when I return to my laptop. Ride Hard, Ride Fast.

It's just amazing how much more I get done after a reset. 3 Siberian Huskies must be a lot of fun. Years ago I had a Rottweiler and a Beagle. It was hilarious to watch them together. It always made me smile.
