It is pride month

In the month of June we celebrate Father's day. We honour our biological fathers and all other father figures that makes us who we are today. I also celebrate my mother's birthday, but many also celebrate Pride month.

What is pride month?

The month of June was chosen to be Pride Month for the LGBT community to commemorate the Stonewall riots, which occurred at the end of June 1969. During this month there will be several events being held all over the world to recognize the impact that the LGBT community has had on us all.

Pride month is a not a fictitious term. June was officially name pride month by President Bill Clinton, who made this declaration in 1999 and 2000. Then President Barack Obama did the same every year he was in office from 2009 to 2016. Brenda Howard, also known as the "Mother of Pride", was the primary coordinator of the first LGBT Pride march.

In the beginning of 2012 Google displayed some LGBT-related search results with different rainbow-colored patterns each year during June and in 2017 they included rainbow coloured streets on Google Maps to display Gay Pride marches occurring across the world. Apple also inputted wallpapers to represent for gay pride as well.

Why imprint does pride month leave behind?

There has been many developments for the LGBT community over the years. Most recently (2019) we have seen the first openly gay album in India, first same-sex marriage law in Asia and the first openly gay state governor in the U.S. Gay pride and so many other determinants are helping so many individuals accept who they are and become brave enough to be themselves and display this to the world.

So, happy Pride Month everyone. Let us love each other no matter our race, sexual preference, religion, nationality, weight class, height or shoe size. The point is LOVE IS LOVE, so let's show love to each other no matter what our preferences are. Violence begets violence and in the end solves nothing.
