The One Question Everyone Asks About Making Money Online (But Is Afraid to Say Out Loud)
We’ve all been there.
You’re scrolling through posts, watching videos, or reading yet another “how I made $10,000 in a week” story, and one burning question lingers in your mind, but maybe you’ve been too unsure or even embarrassed to ask.
So today, I’m flipping the script.
Let’s get real.
Maybe it’s something like:
- ❓ “Is it really still possible to make money online, or did I miss the boat?”
- ❓ “How do I know which ‘guru’ or course is actually legit?”
- ❓ “What if I don’t have any skills or a big audience?”
- ❓ “Why do I keep getting stuck after the first few steps?”
- ❓“Am I too old/young/inexperienced to even try?”
- ❓"Is my niche idea good enough?"
- ❓"How do I get traffic without spending a ton?"
- ❓"Am I doing this all wrong?"
- ❓"Is it really possible to replace my 9-to-5?"
- ❓" How do I pick a topic I'm passionate about that also makes money?"
- ❓ "How do I stay motivated when I'm not seeing results yet?"
- ❓"How long does it really take to start earning with a new website?"
Here’s the truth:
You are not alone in wondering these things.
In fact, the biggest myth in the online business world is that “everyone else has it all figured out.”
Spoiler: "They don’t."
The online space is flooded with tactics, hacks, and blueprints, but what most people are genuinely searching for isn’t another strategy.
It’s clarity.
It’s confidence.
It’s knowing that the effort they’re putting in is actually leading somewhere.
And the only way to find those answers?
Ask.
Ask the question you’re afraid to ask.
Say the thing everyone’s thinking but no one’s saying.

So I’ll go first, here’s my answer to anyone wondering whether it’s “too late” to start:
It’s not too late. It’s never too late. The internet isn’t a gold rush, it’s a toolbox. New opportunities emerge every single day. What’s changed isn’t the possibility, it’s the approach. Success now belongs to those who provide value, not those looking for shortcuts and are serious about an online business and not treating it like a hobby.
Now it’s your turn.
What’s YOUR question?
Drop it in the comments below: no judgment, just real talk and real answers.
Let’s lift the curtain and help each other move forward for real this time.

Ask.
Ask the question you’re afraid to ask.
Say the thing everyone’s thinking but no one’s saying.
Wealthy Affiliate is the right platform for starting an online business
If so, it is like the direction it is taking under your guidance.
Kindest regards.
Paul from Canada.
Hi Paul,
You’ve captured something really important here , the power of asking honest questions, even when they feel uncomfortable. So much growth and clarity begin when we’re willing to voice what others might be hesitant to say.
I truly believe Wealthy Affiliate is an exceptional platform for anyone starting an online business. The training, tools, and most importantly the community support make it a standout choice. We don’t have to do this alone having a supportive community is invaluable, especially when you have lots of questions or hit those inevitable challenging moments. Under thoughtful guidance, it offers not just direction, but a clear and supported path forward.
Thanks for sparking such a meaningful conversation.
Kind regards,
Sylvia
Hi, Sylvia.
So let me ask you.
Are you here to make money online?
And if so, why online and how has WA allowed you to do so?
Sincerely,
Paul Mindra from Canada.
Hi Paul
Great questions!
Yes, I’m absolutely here to make money online, but it’s about more than just income. For me, working online means freedom: the ability to work from anywhere, create something meaningful, and build a business that aligns with my values and lifestyle.
Wealthy Affiliate has been the foundation of that journey. (I have been here since 2016) It provided me with the training to understand digital marketing, the tools to build and grow my online presence, and, just as importantly, a supportive community that keeps me motivated, accountable, and learning every step of the way.
Whether you're just starting or looking to scale, WA removes the guesswork and helps you focus on what actually works.
How about you? What brought you here, and what are you looking to achieve?
Cheers Sylvia
Hi, Sylvia.
I, too have been here since 2016, and I concur with you on many things including WA.
Being online has served me well and to have a homebase like Wealthy Affiliate...well, there is nothing else quite like it.
In 2016 I got involved with Crypto Currency, more specifically, Bitcoin (when it was less than $1,000.00 per coin) and Ethereum, (when it was less than $400.00 per coin). My strategy was to buy and hold. It worked. I do not cash it in and will leave it to my child and grand children. I still continue to buy small fractions of both on a monthly basis.
I started with WA as a hobby to "First Learn, and then remove the L." WA has worked out nicely for me also.
New era on the horizon with AI, and turning 66 today it is time to focus and get more involved with WA. I joined the new "Bootcamp," and look forward to the new adventure. I like to promote WA and have done well in that arena also.
Thank you for your response and I'll check out your work (websites) moving forward.
Kindest regards to You and Yours.
Paul Mindra from Canada.
Thank you, Sylvia
You mentioned most of the questions which went through my mind when I started in this business, but as you shared I never asked those questions and now you have me wondering Why Not
You got me thinking now
Jeff
Hi Jeff,
I completely understand where you're coming from. I used to believe that asking questions was a sign of weakness especially coming from a leadership background where everyone expected me to have all the answers.
But I’ll never forget what my mentor told me:
“If you don’t ask, I can’t help you improve.”
That shifted everything for me. It takes real courage to admit you don’t know something, but it’s also the fastest way to grow. When I started my online journey, I spent countless hours Googling questions until I realized the power of simply asking someone who’d been there before.
So please ask those questions! It’s how we break through barriers and move forward when we feel stuck.
Cheers,
Sylvia😀
Thank you, Sylivia
That is what is awesome about WA, we learn new habits we need to be successful such as asking questions even if we think they are dumb questions.
Jeff

Hello, Sylvia. I know i do not have to ask about the hosting and training platforms because I know I chose right with Wealthy Affiliates. I guess my main question that I keep asking myself is whether my niche is able to draw an audience to give me a good ranking, good amount of clicks, and some sign ups. I keep trying to narrow my niche down to a specific interest with not so much competition but that has not been very successful. Anyway, I am waiting for the bootcamp series to start today to see if it can help me out bit. MAC.
