The word 'Guru'.
Am I ever sick of hearing the word 'GURU'. In fact, I'm so fed up with it, that I could live the rest of my life without ever needing to hear it again!
What's really strange, is that 'guru' has become a word that it so widely used in the Internet Marketing world, and I find that super weird. Before delving into IM, I'd only heard that word a few times here & there, only to describe some profoundly enlightened swami sitting atop a mountain somewhere. I worked at a yoga centre & honestly didn't hear guru there nearly as much as it's tossed around to describe sketchy people peddling stuff in the IM realm.
It has me so annoyed, that I'm actually thinking of putting up some kind of sarcastic 'Guru Shmuru' site just to get back at how much it's overused. Just saying.
Anyone else out there rather irritated by the constant peppering of this word??!!

It is true that the word "Guru" once had a good connotation. It is a shame that the bad boys of Internet Marketing have usurped a term that once was the ultimate in spiritual enlightenment.
As noquitting has said, it is up to us to discard the bad press that it gives to IM and rise above the garbage that they have produced. We should create our own positive spin and do the best we can to put some honor back into the IM field.
You missed out one part of the word "Kanga." As in "Kangaroo"! Okay I was close! I know the spelling is not the same. :)
But it's funny!
These so called "gurus" are horrible teachers, because they only have one thing in mind and that is using "technique," the next JV "tactic" and "strategie" and my whole point is that they jump around from one money making launch, offer, product to the next.
It's like the blind leading the blind! lol
It's sort of like a swarming crowd of money hungry schemers trying find their next gig and they JV and all follow each other to connect and make there list bigger "because the money is in the list."
They have it all wrong!
"The money is not in the list" and there's proof because there is lot's of attrition and the "list" get's smaller and then you have to "add" to your list to make it bigger and it's a never ending revolving wheel. That's okay if you're a cute little hamster, they love the revolving wheel. Hamsters can play all day long on those things.
Anyone have the answer where the money really is? Kyle and Carson get it and they are doing it now!
I'll give everyone my answer when I see what feedback we get here!
Oh yeah! Self proclamation is wonderful isn't it?
Guru!
Yeah right!
Thanks for bringing this up Spring! It's motivating! :)

PS. Never ever call me a Guru! pleeeease! lol.
This is just the part that may have been missed with regards to the "list building" guru! (or at least what has been taught by these attrition gurus')
Re: "The money is not in the list" (comment above)
Answer: "The money is in the relationship with your list"

Hello. I'm a newbie here so please forgive me if it appears I'm talking out of turn. But rather than allowing yourself to become annoyed with the over - use of the term "guru". why don't you use the energy that is generating within you to push yourself forward to become the very best you can be. that way, you are turning a negative emotion into something very powerful

Hi. Just stumbled across this. I agree with you. Another word that has been twisted but is still a great word is "empower". The empower network has turned this into something else and they are now known as a scam. But someone commented about this word on my recent blog here and I've been giving it lots of thought.
Empower should be a good word and I plan on doing a follow up blog on this and what it truly should mean.
