The Egg Lady
I grew up on a farm. My parents milked 30ish Holstein cows, raises meat and laying chickens. I disliked picking up eggs and, of course, the worst job in the entire wold.... Cleaning the chicken coop. Yuck. Why would anyone want chickens???? They are messy and stinky!
I married a farmer and now have chickens. I have about 75ish chickens. I say "ish" as my main layers (Rhode Island, Rhode Island x Light Sussex, Rhode Island x Barred Rock) are hard to count as they run about 60...give or take. Then I have 9 Americanas, and 9 silkies. I Love my chickens! They are curious and just plain fun to watch. I don't mind the pecking hens when protecting their eggs or the stink and muck of cleaning the coop. The more I can spend with these prehistoric-like birds, the happier I can be. They are just fun to watch. The personalities and friendliness, like people, are all different from bird to bird.

75!
That is a lot to care for...
Did you know they are the most numerous animals?
There are more chickens than humans...
They have a stunning cycle of legging too
And their poop is the best fertilizer
Great niche!!.!.
To you
And your farm

Thanks. After watching the video on picking a niche, I had ideas ringing in my head so quickly I had a hard time to keep up with writing them all down. Chickens, geese, goats and horses are my most favorite farm animals... So as I am called "The Egg Lady" when I deliver eggs.... Why not chickens as my first niche? Came with a website same!

It is funny how the things you despised doing as a child becomes as sense of enjoyment as an adult. The chickens must keep you pretty busy, not to mention other farm related chores.
