New Theme and Slow Speed Progress Report

My first problems with my site speed originated months ago, as highlighted to me by @ParthaP who kindly helped me out with advice on how to cure it.

With the successful activation of WP Rocket and Imagify plugins, my site speed shot back to GREEN! Yaay! I was so happy!!

Then, just recently, it plummeted back down into the land of RED. Right down. Like down to a measly 29.

It hurts to see that on the speed test report, you know?

Fast forward to NOW . . .With the help of you awesome WA people and the site support team, I've now got a staging site and tested out TWO other themes which I've been recommended (thanks Trish and Partha), namely, Astra and Generate Press, but the very sad news indeed is that . . . .

With the new theme the site STILL has a MEASLY orange and RED 54 😭, with unused JavaScript listed as the number 1 issue.

In second place is 'reduce initial server response time', but as you may remember, I already went through all the plugins, deactivating them one by one without any joy at all.

And in third place is the third party code which comes from SUMO & from Google but I don't think it should be necessary to deactivate Sumo (given that everyone has SUMO don't they??)

And possibly the most shocking part of this sad tale is that tomorrow I will be busy all day long so I won't be able to do anything.

And what will I do anyway?

I will let you know when I know!

But I tell myself, don't feel too sad, the solution is out there, you just have to find it
