Strategy to avoid "rabbit holes"

Rabbit holes. The kind you dive into, and you find a whole network of dark tunnels underneath. You choose one to follow, and soon find more intersections, more tunnels. You choose another. Gradually you lose your sense of direction. Eventually you don't even know where the entrance was, or how to exit. You are lost. You spend your days trying to make sense of all this confusion.

Thats what my WA journey was like for the first two months or so. Lost and scattered between WA admin, writing, my website, more writing, researching, training, making sense of it all.

Then I realised: I cannot do this without some sort of a road map.

So, every weekend I now draw up a To-Do list for the week to come. No one else would understand it, and it doesn't look intelligible either, but I know exactly what it means and what I need to do. Best solution ever- increasing my productivity about 4 times.

Whoalla! Rabbitholes plugged!

Yes! Focus and clarity are everything. At the same time there is much to be learned by exploring. I envy those with lots of focus - it’s a challenge for me! Thanks for your highlighting this issue!

Heather

My pleasure Heather. It remains a challenge. So much to learn, so little time... :-)

I'm the same way. Too many rabbit holes. My yard at my old place was full of them. I fell into one injured my ankle. I can relate to that. For me, the worse thing is that my to-do list on here sits there doing nothing. If you succeed with your road map pray do tell because I'd like to know. I am a procrastinator. Part of the problem looks overwhelming for me as a newbie. thanks for sharing.

Yeah. Been there too. Realised I try to take on too much. So, I took on less, rewarded myself more. Broke it down into smaller bits daily. Not sure if it'll helped, but I felt better afterwards about m'self :-)))

Procrastination and perfectionism go hand in hand I think. When I do get together and produce something I spend way too much time overthinking about it and making minutely small changes having to get it 'just right'. I'm sure we could start a support club for this here in WA!

So true, so true. Could be a phenomenon associated with a particular personality stereotype or star sign. Or, simply the state of the moon... :-|

Great timing with this post! I have fallen down many rabbit holes in the last two weeks and my personal productivity has been underwhelming. I was thinking its time to set some very specific goals to work towards and break them down into 'doable' bites (and stay away from Youtube - my number 1 time waster!)
If I know what I need to do and why I need to do it, a spare 10mins here and there will accumulate into real, visible progress.

What makes it worse in my case, is I'm a bit of a scatterbrain, and oh, so curious. I'll follow every rabbit hole I come acros, often knowing that it leads to nowhere... :-)))

Yep. I hear you!
