Are you in a niche were it is important for your audience to know you and trust you? With my real estate niche, it is VERY important can earn people’s trust. After all, I hope they will trust me enough to give me a set of keys to their house. Even if they are still living in it.
At the moment, I have not made very many YouTube videos. I probably could count them on my fingers. Yet in January, on two occasions, I had a male acquaintance tell me that he watched one of my videos on YouTube. The weird thing was that neither man was in the market to buy or sell real estate. On one hand, I was flattered. On the other hand, I have taken time to seriously consider what I am putting out there for the world to see.
Naturally, I am ecstatic that people are finding my videos. That is the whole point of publishing them. However, I realize that we should be very careful with what we are posting online because people that are not part of our target audience might actually see the videos.
On the other hand, are we sharing so much information that someone might be tempted to burglarize our house? Kidnap our dog when we are at gone?
Well, I am confident that I don’t have to worry about someone kidnapping my dog. Most people are scared of her even when she is walking nicely on a leash.

I’ve lost count of the times over the years that someone that I was planning to do business with commented that they read my real estate blog online prior to meeting me. They were willing to meet me because of what they read. I must assume that I’ve also lost some potential clients because they did not like what I said.
We should all be keenly aware that we could lose business , a job prospect or a even a potential mate because of what we have posted online.
As online marketers, we need to always be considering how much information are we sharing.
Do you have any tips that you can share to maintain the optimal balance between maintaining privacy; while at the same time being authentic and relatable?
Thanks in advance
