New reasons to motivate me towards success...

I finally got a website started, but I haven't done much writing in the past few years. Its been hard to get the creative juice flowing again so I figure I start practicing here by blogging how I hate my job so much. Its pretty much how I got the idea in internet marking and eventually landed here.

I want tell you the event that got me here. I am currently working as a security officer for a small private arts college and been at this job for nearly 7 years. I originally wanted to get into law enforcement and thought working in security would be a stepping stone into that field. Unfortunately the 08 recession hit, and that practically knocked my hiring process out of alignment. Anyways, this has been a less than ideal job, as I feel I have been used and abuse by my employers even though they claim I am a "valued member of this community."

Fast forward to a few months back, I was working the night shift and it had been raining really hard. On the roof of our building are some windows, and right below those windows are spaces where students work on their projects. Learning from the previous rainy seasons, I had decided to close those windows before the really hard rain hit to minimize the amount of rain water from leaking onto students projects and equipments. Unfortunately those windows are very old and I did my best to close them as much as possible. What's worst is that the heavy wind will blow them back open. I did let our facility guys know about the problem in the past, but they pretty much told me to stop being such a wuss and to just close them. That night, luckily enough a student reported that rain water was leaking onto his projects and his laptop. He asked if I can close them. I explained to him that I was up there earlier to do so as much as I could but there was nothing more I could have done for the night. I also suggested that he move his stuff to another area for the time being. My co worker was also present and he suggested I go close those windows. I replied that I was not going back up there because of the heavy rain and if he wanted to he can. It then escalated into a shouting match between the two of us about who should close those windows. For the sake of argument I agreed to go up there again and saw that there was nothing I could have done. I was pretty much thrown into the woods and I left work thinking that night.

When I got home, I Googled "quit my job" and realize I was not alone in this rat race. I learned there is a whole community of people who are in the same rat race who also created opportunities for themselves that lead to financial freedom. As I learned more about those opportunities, I found my way here. Thanks for reading.

There are many of us here who were in similar circumstances to you. I just hope we all get enough from WA to keep us from going back into jobs like that. All the best again Tony.
Cheers,Ian

Best wishes on your quest. Here's to our success of getting out of the rat race.
