Things That Make You Go Hmmmm.
Do you ever see something, or someone, or someone doing something that makes you pause to consider what you are seeing? While trying hard not to judge, you just don't "get" what you see? Welcome to my Tuesday morning commute.
Being disabled, I use a shared ride service for my transportation needs. My driver on this day was just a slight young gal that I had never met before. Having to take a 20 LB xygen vessel along with me to work, I was very concerned about her ability to assist me. Luck was on my side as we were sucessfully able to get both myself and my oxygen onboard and we were then on our way.
Almost immediately, I spy the cookies, candies, cupcakes, chips and small bottles of energy drinks that the driver has on the floor next to her. My eyes focused on all these poor nuitrition choices, when my driver - who I will call Stacy from here on out, simply cause she looked Stacyish to me:-) - states that she is angry over the fact that the government now requries her to have health insurance for her and her daughter. It is after all costing her $350 per month which she can not afford. At this time, I had to reign myself in to not commiserate with poor Stacy's plight, after all, junk food is not cheap. I was proud of myself for not pointing out to her that she would probably need all that expensive health care when the reality of her diet took over.
At this time, I would like to mention that I am actively listed for a double lung transplant. My job while waiting is to stay as healthy as possible, making good food choices is my first concern. Having lost 50 LBS over the last year, my Doctor has advised me that my caloric needs are greater as my body burns more calories simply breathing. So now not only do I need to eat well, I need to do more of it! Talk about pressure...
There is a point to all my ramblings and I thank all of you who have hung out with me thus far. Life is not a dress rehearsal and we owe it to selves and our loved ones to make the most of each day. This includes making the best emotional, physical, spiritual and fiscal choices. My choice to be here at WA with all of you represents my journey of excellence and my choosing for what is best for me. Thanks for this opportunity and this community and lets make it an inspiring, productive day.

Thanks Christabella. One thing I always tried to drill into my kids' heads is that no matter what you think you don't have, you always have a choice
You are so right, it is so important to realize that our choices today will effect our tomorrows!
Good for you holding back. As you know, my husband had a DLT two years ago, and healthy eating combined with active lifestyle made his recovery so much better. It is sad what people do to themselves with poor food and health choices. Thank you for sharing, and let's keep in touch. You've got an incredible journey in front of you. I will send you a PM.
