Ensuring Success

Wow, it's hard to believe we are in mid-January. How many of us have already tired of our New Year's goals? How many of have already slowed down or quit?

It's funny how at the beginning of the year when you go to the gym, everyone has made a New Year's resolution to get fit and go to the gym more. You can hardly find a parking space or a locker that is available, much less a treadmill or bike that is not being used. Within just a couple of weeks the crowd gets thinner. Then a month goes by and the crowd is even thinner than two weeks before.

How many of us are like that with our other goals?

If we are going to be successful we have to stick to our goals. There may be some readjusting along the way but you have to stick with it. I just spent the last week in Juneau, AK for a 4-day trial. My plans were definitely interrupted. I didn't get as much accomplished this past week as I had planned but it doesn't mean I am giving up. This past week really put a damper in my healthier eating habits too but the failure is only in when we give up.

My husband has been reading a book called "Atomic Habits" and when he finished it I picked it up to read. My husband read to me from the book a few things that really got me to thinking. The first one was, we have to think of ourselves as what we want to be, meaning that if we want to be successful we have to think of ourselves as already being successful. If we want to be healthier, we have to think of ourselves as already being healthier. Our choices then begin to align with who we want to be.

The second thing was that we have to implement small changes, take smaller steps toward those things we want to accomplish. Our habits define us. Whether they are good or bad habits. We must choose to change the habits, by using small systematic changes to get where we want to go or be where we want to be.

To ensure success, first we must set our goals, readjust those goals as needed and implement small systematic changes and develop new habits in order to reach where we want to be. This works for any part of lives.

Good luck out there WA family!

Pamela

Great ideas Pamela.
Now about those New Years' resolutions, well I am doing better than most, but mine are not resolutions but habit goals - kind of like the small changes you described.
Thanks for sharing, sounds like a book I will need to add to my list.
Have a blessed week ahead.
Ray

I’m reading it now and it is very interesting.

Sounds like a great book. Thanks for sharing, Pamela.

Good post, young lady.

You have just told us how affirmations work. You say the affirmations as if they have already happened, so your brain will get the message that they should be happening. Act as if you already have what you want.

Thanks. This is a good book.
