My Dad was the Best Dad!
A Tribute to Robin Smith
t's been a week since my dad passed away from a long 15 year battle with prostate cancer. My father Robin Smith was an incredible man. He was born in 1933 in Ballycastle, Northern Ireland. He was often known as the Irish friendly giant because of his tall stature. His famous signature was his earth gripping handshake and his bright blue eyed smile.He always loved to meet people and always wanted to create a lasting first impression. He never let me down once and he always had a fix for my problem. He was such a loving, gentle father who taught me so much through his words and his actions. In my eulogy at his funeral last week this is what i said twice in opening and closing in my speech about him.
" I loved my dad. He was the best dad in the whole wide world and i was proud to be his son. My dads unshakable faith was the cornerstone and foundation of his life. He was a friend to all and had the loving, giving heart of a servant. His legacy will live on in our hearts and minds from now to eternity. And that's what i wanted to tell you about my dad"
We will miss you dad but we know you are singing with the Angels in Heaven.
