Keeping on with Google Plus: Still About 10 Months Before Shutdown

It happened that the NEWS of G+ Shutdown came up on the very day I decided to focus only on Google Plus for sharing my site articles and product pages. I did not believe it was a real NEWS when I saw it first on a WA blog. But I saw it again in another WA blog, and just out of curiosity 'googled' it. I am sure the NEWS of G+ shutdown came as very disturbing to many users as me.

I was introduced to Google Plus by WA and I liked it in barely two months of using it. But now, it will shut down by August 2019. That's still about 10 months to go and will make it 12 months of my usage. Not sure, but it feels like Google may already have something else to replace G+...Come on, wiping out over 300 million user base is not an easy decision. If there is no replacement, we move on with other platforms and the good thing is that WA introduced three other social media platforms to its members, including me. Pinterest, Twitter and Facebook were introduced and they have a combined user base of over 600 million across the globe.

I haven't tried Pinterest in the past, I like Twitter with my inital experience, but Facebook doesn't seem to rhyme with me - noting a lot of issues in their past activities. The task of building Followership on all these platforms is daunting. But that's what social media marketing is all about. With this G Plus announcement, it is advisable to be on more than one Social Media Platform. That's actually the teachings of WA, which helps during this kind of G+ shutdown scenario.

I have seen interests from WA members in "webtalk" in hopes that it might turn out to be another great social media platform. I have asked myself, can I really do it - multiple platforms? Oh man! is just what I screamed - may be I can, may be I can not. But the verdict is that I don't want to be spending a lot of time on many social media. Best is to pursue more efforts in SEO because any Social Media Platform can close down anytime, leaving reliant users at a big loss, with just the option of starting all over again.

I understood that many online communities are rethinking their thoughts on social media, with different gorups looking into decentralized social media. Well, for now I like to stick with G plus till August 2019, and in parallel try gradually on other platforms recommended by WA. This should work fine, but what do you think?

Your analysis and reflection are timely and well placed.

I personally have spoken against the current SM giants which fill up daily columns with their massive security and privacy breaches.

Sadly, some have no problem and continue to use or even defend the. Yeah, that convicted fellow has over and over robbed my house hut he she still can keep the keys to my home...Stockholm Syndrome, or closer to home, the battered spouse syndrome.

Webtal k is going to revolutionize SM and affiliate marketing when the Stockholm Syndrome victims eill awaken and will not only want a new unified SM platform but one which PAYS its users for being there and being active using We talk among themselves.

I have heard the fearful cries and arguments on Webtal k. So I ask humbly again, what is the risk for a free account there?

It is not like the data stolen from FB & Co. is not already public.

Anyway, wish you the best in choosing whatever SM you want.

I just provided my humble opinion.

Blessings

It'a great idea and progress for a Social Media platform to pay its users for being there and actively using the platform - so in that context WebTalk will top up the SM chart quickly if it lives up to it.

The point is that if these breaches are happening to the Social Media giants, who we know have so much technical man power, advanced technologies, early detection & trace-back systems, internal checks, etc, what guarantees do people have that a startup social media platform will be able to avert such heavy-handed breaches?

I am a proponent that the SM giants stay as they have so much already, in terms of technical expertise and experience to deal with all these breaches radically and professionally in order to avoid future re-occurrence. New SM platforms will then be able to establish with their new models on more secure and advanced algorithms.

Thank you for the post. Google will come out possibly something better than +.

I personally stick to Instagram and my website. I know that I need more social interaction outside of WA but my time is very limited and out of everything I find Instagram to be simple to manage.

I wish I can get more into G Plus but I literally have no time for all networks. I'm trying my best :)
