Non-Profit / Charity organisation setup - help!
Does anyone have experience setting up a US based Non-profit or Charity? There is so much information online - thinking about setting up a foundation (and website) - unlikely to be any affiliate programs or links on it.
I'm trying to look at setting up a way to accept donations online for a cause, but want to minimise the overhead so that as much of the funds can go to the cause as possible.
The cause is to benefit the victims of the 2011 Tohoku earthquake and Tsunami in Japan - a large number are still displaced in temporary housing with little or no help at all. US based because the business (run out of Hawaii) that we run has been contributing funds towards the missions and my partner is Japanese-American. But now more people are wanting to donate and legislation means we cannot accept these donations through the business.
What are some good tools to use? what are the requirements? any advice or support would be appreciated!
