I am a freelance writer, currently working on publishing a book. I have worked for The News Tribune (Tacoma, WA) on a freelance basis, and have also worked as a reporter for the Shelton-Mason County Journal. I have worked with the now-defunct Voter News Service (affiliated with ABC, CBS, and NBC). I have worn my AP badge proudly - but reporting didn't give me the feeling that I was helping people - and that is, ultimately, what I want to do with my life. I have had the pleasure of working as a college-level English tutor, a tutor for school-age children (all subjects), and a full-time freelance editing career. I have worn many hats, and they all taught me something valuable!

But the most valuable people in my life right now are my 22-year old son (who has made me a very proud mama) and my 2-year-old little girl; they are my world.

I currently have interests in raising money for several causes, including feeding those who don't have access to food, and I have also been donating funds to World Wildlife Fund for saving tigers in jeopardy of extinction, and Solid Ground, who helps homeless people find homes, and for feeding the homeless/poverty-stricken in King County (Washington, where I live). I am new to the site, and would welcome any help that comes my way. Thank you! :)

Hi Siannon,
I used to live in Seattle for over 25 years and I still love the area! My friends and I used to provide (they still do) home-made Thanksgiving meals during Thanksgiving morning.

I admire what you do and hope you'll be very successful with WA and contribute more to our planet. I'd like to follow your good spirits.

Hi Ryo,

Ah the Emerald City ... nice!! I still love the Pacific NW too, it's hard to beat with all of its natural beauty! I was born and raised in Texas, but definitely learned to love it here, and wouldn't go back to Texas for anything! lol

Thanksgiving just happens to be my favorite holiday :)

Thank you, I can send you links to where I donate if you'd like! It's nice to know someone cares about our planet, too. Most Seattleites do! :)

Thank you for the warm words of welcome! I hope your time here proves to be successful!!!

Thanks, Shannon!

Yes, I hope my time here proves to be successful. Since I'm not a professional English writer, I'll be looking forward to reading your blogs and articles to learn more!

Thanks Ryo! What a nice compliment to receive - but your English seems great to me!! :)

I'm having some technical issues here at WA that I hope are fixed soon, but I'll keep checking in (probably just not writing blog entries much more, until the issues are ironed out)
...plus it's Mother's Day and I need a day to decompress :)) LOL Have a wonderful evening, and thank you again for the very kind words!

Hi Shiannon01, lovely to meet you on here.:) Also I would like to support and donate to charities under which the World Wildlife Fund and also in particular, abused and abandoned animals, dogs, cats etc. I have since childhood a love for animals. Now I have 4 horses at the moment. At least share them with someone else. Animals often are far wiser than humans. And we can learn alot.:)

Hi ActionStep!
It is lovely to meet you, too! I can give you links if you would like. :) I, too, have had a love of all animals since I was a child. It's my dream to pet a tiger one day! :D Yes, i know that sounds dangerous, but I'd still love to, lol. I love horses, my mom said I should be a jockey, because I got so good at riding as a child (bareback, side-saddle, etc). I even helped her break in a wild stallion - however that ended up with my flying through the air and into a barbwire fence LOL. It is my dream to own (and ride) horses again, one day. I agree completely that animals can be much wiser than (and more compassionate than, at times) humans. Dolphins are one of the most intelligent species. No one should "lord" over animals; they are here as our friends and companions :) And yes, we can definitely learn so much from these beautiful, intelligent creatures. Good luck to you, my friend. I'd be happy to chat one day!
