Site comments

Lately I found it increasingly difficult to get passed WA's approval criteria for site comments. For the last two days some three comments were rejected for various reasons:

- allegedly it was not unique (it was a pure personal and to the point comment)

- the submit button removed my comment (!!?)

- they asked me to read the article first! (this I take as insulting)

I find this extremely frustrating and I am wondering whether anyone of you have encountered similar "hick-ups". I sincerely hope that this feature will start working like it used to, as it is a crucial part of our business.

Sorry guys, here I am again, as it happened again and I do not understand why. My comment was rejected as it supposedly was for other posts! Then I received a no-reply e-mail from Kyle/Carson to teach me that my comment should be relevant (which it was!!) and thorough (which it also was!!). Then it went on to say not to make general feedback comments: guilty, I had warned the person that a hyperlink was missing.

I have difficulties accepting this: my comment was relevant, thorough and to the point and I even helped by indicating an omission. How come I get punished!!?

Thanks and I have not had to reject a comment yet.

Yeah. I had a comment disapproved. I asked if the person had tried out the product himself or had a success story. Valid comment I thought. Obviously he hadn't, so he disapproved it.

Me too! I'm completely put off by the rejections :( Here's mine

: Thanks for taking the time to read my blog, but I have to disapprove your comment because it is too generic.

: This is NOT a comment, it is FEEDBACK! :'(

: Since your comment has nothing to do with my article, it's just a private advice request, so I'll disapprove it on my site

I was trying to ask good questions and provide unique comments :(

I really think something is amiss here and I hope to get to the bottom of this.

The submit button removed your comment? Wow, that's never happened to me. However, I do keep getting a popup dialog box that says something along the lines of "Oops, your content is not unique or has been copied from another site..." This ties in with your first point.

Now, that is what I find very frustrating. In addition, getting rejected for posting a comment that I thought was unique. However, to the host of the website, I get a comment saying "This does not help or is irrelevant to my site."

Just like Mel (onmyownterms), I just stick with providing feedback. At least I won't be getting rejected which leads to a decreasing "grade" on View History as compared to providing comments on websites.

You completely underline what I am experiencing. What is happening here?

Your guess is as good as mine. I have read a post that's similar to yours, and if memory serves me right, Kyle said that he'll be looking into this and make some changes.

I give feedback (can't be rejected) in order to earn credits for either feedback or comments. I found the comment system to just be ridiculous. I think I gave a half dozen (none rejected) and that was it.

The feedback feature and the site comments system are two entities. You provide two site comments and you will receive one back, which works perfectly.

You get generic credits though.... you can earn them strictly for Feedback and then spend them on Comments if you choose.

Ok thanks, but I was talking about possibly changing site comments criteria.
