Memorial Day Weekend( Calling all Mules)

As Memorial Day approaches our town is getting ready for Mule Days, what is Mule Days you might ask. For those of you who know me and have read my profile,I live in Northern California in a small town.It's a tourist attraction for fishing,hiking,camping and of course it's the Mule capital.Every Memorial Day weekend since 1969 our town(Bishop) has the annual presentation of Mule Days. The outfitters and packers of the region wanted an event to start off the packing season and the business wanted to draw vacationers to the Owens Valley.So what began as an informal gathering and a test of skills,has grown into a fun filled world class event.

There is no way to actually describe Mule Days. It is part mule show,part test of skills and part wild west show.No where else in the world is this held.The event is 5 days, there are 14 shows featuring over 700 mules with their trainers,riders and packers. This event takes place at our Tri-County Fairgrounds.Mule people are determined to prove that anything a good horse can do, a good mule can do better.

There you have it a little piece of history of our town.
