I have read a few blogs about training and I feel very confident about how to pick quality keywords. However, I haven't seen the best number of keywords to use in each post and

Yea you can always target just one keyword per post, but by doing it that way, you will need several posts to really see any meaningful traffic to your website from the search engines. You can target as many keywords as you like per post but just don't go overboard don't go into the double digits
