The Power of Pivoting: Why I’m Shifting Gears and Letting Pinterest Take the Lead

Lately, I’ve been deep in the trenches running a full content loop across three platforms. I had everything scheduled through the planner, showing up every day, dropping content on time. For three straight weeks, I hit the plan exactly the way it asked.

Three Weeks of Consistency

Let’s take a look at the chart.

Weekly Plan History Showing Completed Tasks – Mar 2 to Mar 22]

I was hitting 20 posts on Facebook, 16 on Instagram, plus a few stories sprinkled in. The engagement looked strong. On paper, things were on point. But then I noticed something odd—Facebook started asking for more.

A lot more.

It suddenly wanted 60+ posts a week, more stories, more volume. It started to feel like a race I didn’t sign up for.

So I paused. I looked at the engagement again and thought, if I’m already getting solid reach and people are interacting with my content, why am I trying to force more?

That’s when I decided to take a step back and shift my approach.

The Moment I Knew It Was Time to Shift

Instead of flooding the platforms, I got smarter with the timing. My Facebook audience is strong—they show up when I post at the right times. The real power isn’t in volume. It’s in value.

I’m still getting solid results, and all of it has been organic. No ad dollars, just storytelling that people care about.

So I asked myself, if I’m already building momentum, is it time to bring another platform into the rotation?

I was thinking about spinning X back up again. But before I did, I logged into Pinterest just to see what was going on over there.

And man, I’m glad I did.

Pinterest Was Quietly Working for Me

I hadn’t been posting much to Pinterest lately. Maybe a few times a week at best. But when I checked in, the numbers were moving. Not huge, but promising. Then I remembered I had connected Instagram to it a while back. That’s when it clicked. The Instagram flow was trickling into Pinterest and giving it life.

Even with a few duplicate posts to clean up, traffic was moving. Engagement was real. Pinterest had a pulse, and it was working quietly in the background.

My New Cross-Posting Strategy

Here’s how I’m structuring it moving forward:

  • Post 2 strong images a day from Instagram to Facebook and Pinterest
  • Post 2 more from Pinterest to Instagram and Facebook
  • One post will stay only on Facebook
  • One post will stay only on Pinterest
  • One post will stay only on Instagram
  • One post will link directly to my site from all 3 PLATFORMS

That’s 6 total posts a day across the platforms. The loop is tight, the content is relevant, and I’m not overwhelming the system.

Everything’s still organic. It’s just better optimized. I’m working with the algorithm, not fighting it. And this setup gives me breathing room while I juggle everything else on my plate.

Balancing the Brand and Real Life

I’m in the middle of writing a five-book series. Between the writing, crossposting, and blogging, things are stacking up fast. And the house? Let’s just say I could blink and lose 50 hours without trying.

But here’s a quick moment that reminded me why I’m doing all this.

The other day, my 12-year-old daughter walked into the garage where I work and said, “Dad, you’re the talk of the school.”

I laughed and asked what she meant.

She said kids were reading my stories, looking stuff up, and realizing it was all real. Even a few teachers were following along.

That hit me hard, in a good way.

I told her, “I built this to show you that if you focus, learn from what’s already in front of you, and follow what you love—you’ll never have to worry.”

Here’s What I Know Now

  • Smart posting beats overposting
  • Your audience will tell you when something’s working
  • Pinterest has more power than people think
  • Organic content can still go far if it’s built with purpose

So yeah, I’m keeping this ride going. Connecting platforms and working the Facebook plan has been a great traffic boost. Both Pinterest and Instagram are sitting right around 10K views in the last 30 days, and I’m happy with that result.

I feel like my base on Facebook is strong and growing. The strategy is clicking, and the story is building.

Catch you in the next one.

Great going Shawn! Pinterest as a search engine is undervalued by many in my opinion....

I need to up my game and use it more efficiently though my friend! :-)

Hey Jessiefido, sorry for the late reply, I just got this notification. Thanks so much for the encouragement. Totally agree with you. Pinterest is a hidden gem for traffic and way undervalued. I’m just starting to dial in my strategy but already seeing the potential. You’ve got this my friend. Let’s both level up and make it work for us.

No worries at all buddy... let's all level up and push forward for the benefit of us all here!! :-)

Right on, my friend! Let’s keep the good energy rolling

👍👍

Thanks for the inspiration, Shawn.

I have re-visited Pinterest as well.
It's a "search engine" from what I understand.

Thanks again!

Glad you enjoyed the article, Brad! It’s something I noticed, so I figured I’d share—takes a lot of effort to keep the plan going on Facebook. I’ve still got a bunch of Jay and VitaliyG’s Pinterest classes to go through too, so I can really tap into the full potential this platform has to offer.
