What I learned from my trip to the library

A couple of days ago on my lunch break I decided to take a stroll over to the library and do some magazines research on a subject for a post I am working on. Seeing how the library is only 3 doors down this should be no issue.

Upon entering, I noticed that it was a quite full house with maybe 50 to 75 individuals in attendance. I found that to be a bit much on a Wednesday afternoon but the last time I been in a library I was working as a library re locator. Where I would pack up an old library to move the books to a new library and that was about 15 years ago.

Even longer as a student at about 20 years ago as a sophomore in college!

Making my way over to the magazine section I noticed a quite thin selection mostly composed of housekeeping and recipe magazines with a few sports illustrated in the mix. My search for some sort of entrepreneur/finance publication have come up short so I decided to direct my attention to the crowd within the library to see what they were interested in. (being nosey) I also figured I can salvage a failed research attempt.

My recon mission revealed 3 things!

  1. 75% of the library occupants were actively engaged on the computers.
  2. Out of those CPU users 65% were either on FB or doing some sort of retail browsing.
  3. And lastly if these people are willing to use the library for leisure how many will be open to using the library for business?

1. Access is granted

Thanks to the library computers are made available without having to actually own a computer. The only thing that is needed is an active library card and an open computer and you are given access to a machine.

I am not sure if there is a time limit to each computer however, there weren't any signs eluding to a time limit and I stuck around for the duration of my 45min break and then there were a few that didn’t make a move.

2. How are the waves?

The web surfing was in full effect so I’d say the waves were great!!

While some teens were playing video games on the computers there was a number of them browsing FB. Most likely watching videos or chatting with friends. However, the adult users were either on FB browsing or looking at merchandise sites looking to shop or compare prices.

This bought 2 things to my attention .

  1. Facebook marketing is probably still one of the biggest platforms to promote your website. Keep in mind that the Facebook is the sizzle while the website is the steak! Finding the right crowd may take time but I'm sure it's worth the wait. And.....
  2. They are looking at merchandise to either make a purchase or doing some price comparisons. Either way they were looking at retail online. Majority was clothes while the other surfers was looking at electronics.

That's where the affiliate marketer comes in. To aid and assist in the decision to make a purchase. With a huge emphasis on aiding and assisting, our job is to make the consumers search a bit easier. All we have to do is get good content in front of the right eyes.

3. There really is no excuse

Computers can be used for way more than just writing papers, web-surfing, or playing video games. Almost every company is looking for affiliates to help drive traffic to make sales. Of course, we know this due to our training here at WA,

All that is needed is an internet connection and some sort of central processing unit. That's It!

The library was full of computers and all the screens were occupied for leisure activity. This is time that can be spent working on your online business. Boston is under redevelopment and as a barber I hear the cries of the community when it comes to "gentrification" aka the rent increase.

No one takes it as an opportunity to grow or take their earning potential to the next level. With access to computers and the internet given by the library 2hrs in the Am and 2 hrs in the pm can work wonders in constructing a business.

So what Did I learn Exactly?

Well for starters this particular library needs to stock up on a variety of magazines. Thankfully the staff was receptive to my suggestion of a few additions. I'll have to check back to see if they make it happen.

The lesson worth learning was that even in my daily routine there are potential referrals who may need help with the idea of creating their own business.

I notice that when I approach those that I know about the opportunity it's never received well and I am not sure why.

I need to work on ways to approach strangers with this opportunity because I know it can supplement so many incomes and help with being able to withstand the "gentrification".

Does anyone do any face to face promotion of WA? If so, what is your approach? Leave your comments down below as I would love to learn some more!

That's all for now
