Pick a niche any niche?
When I came to WA I was like most people clueless and so I jumped into the getting started lesson and learned quickly that I needed to find a niche. Now here's where I was probably more clueless than most I had no idea what I was passionate about.
What to do, what to do I kept saying to myself so one day I talked to my daughter who said mom do this I just smiled at her and decided I would go with motivation. Why motivation you may ask. Well my daughter was in the hospital Christmas 2012 and my heart hurt so bad. From the time she was born I prayed she would never be in the hospital Christmas day.
There's something about seeing her wake up and tear down the steps so she can see what's under the tree. Makes all the skimping and saving all year long worth it. So I go to pick up my mom to spend some time with my child and my sister hands me a Barnes and Noble bag and says Merry Christmas. Out comes a thick book by Jack Canfield The Success Principles. Long story short I promise to read it.
Later that night we take turns reading it out loud suddenly I love Jack Canfield because he help take Jazzies mind off her pain. But as I read I realized that my life could be different it was just not a worthless dream I had. So motivation it was in fact my first website was www.motivationandinspiration.siterubix.com. I worked with it for a while before I decided to actually buy a website.
Life was good I bought a website for the grand total of $1.17! And again I went with a motivation theme WWW.motivationandyou.com. Nope I did not make any money but I sure grew tremendously. I learned in leaps and bounds what motivation meant and found out that I already harbored the knowledge inside and used it often but on others not myself. But was this truly my passion? I stayed up late and got up early and I knew I loved working online and motivation I loved but was it my passion?
So Iike any good and confused person I decided to buy a second website! Once again I talked to my very intelligent daughter who said again mom you should do this. This time I couldn't stop thing about what Jazz said mom you should have a website that will help parents in the raising of their kids. Really me? I never went to school for that. But mom you help all my friends they rather talk to you than their moms. Well I have spent years talking to kids or helping parents.
So I decided to make this my second niche I went to buy the website but the one I wanted was for sale for 2,995.00 after the shock wore off I started to laugh. So I came up with another name www.betweenusparents.com and I noticed something almost right away. When I was reworking my way through the classes here to set up my website the minute I had to do the about me page it was different from the first two I did. It was truly about me I wanted the people who read my website to know me and realize how much I loved helping both children and parents.
I had found a niche I was passionate about and the building of the website is slower this time but that's because when dealing with children and parents one should think first and talk later. I know because I have been both a child and a parent!
So when discovering your passion...
1. Listen to those that know you
2. You may go through more than one niche its called growing and its ok
3. Learn from all you do (especially the mistakes)
4. Have fun
5. Before you know it your passion surfaces
6. Remember you can have more than one passion
Much success to all here!

Great post Serena! I like your story and the motivation you got from it. I think your niche is perfect for you. You genuinely love what you are writing about. It shows in your content. Is that your baby on the main page?
Well done,
Dave
This is some great advice, I know finding the right niche can be a very daunting thing

Hi Serena, Thanks for sharing your story and advice. I hope your daughter is doing well. You actually sound a lot like me. I love helping children and all of my daughter's friends and some parents come to me for advice. I think you found your niche and I wish you much success!

There should have been a LOVE THIS button for this. Great story, I have something in common with you for sure because my son said those exact words to me about all of his friends looking up to me and being more comfortable talking to me than their own parents. But you already used that for your niche, however, just from reading your story, it sparked some memories that are pointing me in the direction of a couple of other good target niches for myself to explore. Thank you for sharing.
