The other day I published a post on how to Become The Brightest Marketer In Your Niche, and I didn't want to make that one post drag on and on. So I will be splitting it up into a few. If you missed that post, I highly recommend checking it out, as there's a ton of tools in the article, that can be very beneficial... Check it out here!

So Let's recap where we were and pick up where we left off... The first AA method on how to Become The Brightest Marketer In Your Niche was finding out what your target audience REALLY needs and wants from you. I covered a ton of information as well as some tools that will assist you in finding those answers, most of which are free! Which brings us to method 2:

AA Method #2: Don't Just Scratch The Surface; Dig Deeper

It's fairly simple to create vague content that kind of just goes through the motions and shares similar advice that everyone else is giving. But guess what?

You won't be winning over any customers that way...

You MUST become the go-to source of information to you audience, don't just be okay with being okay. Go beyond the surface level of knowledge, DIG DEEPER, and develop a better understanding of your niche.

Without understanding the core concepts of your niche, I promise you, that you will struggle to make an impact on your niche. (I've been there, trust me on this) :-)

By following the simple tips that I am about to share, you can easily become more knowledgeable about your chosen topic. More knowledgeable than your competitors, and probably most of your prospects.

By doing this you will create value in yourself and for your target audience, which will eventually turn them into customers!

Read The Best 3 Books On Your Topic

I first read about this theory from Tim Ferris, in his boot The 4-Hour Work Week. In this book he shares this theory, that if you read 3 books on a topic from 3 different authors, you will become more knowledgeable than about 99% of people you know on said topic.

It seems like a very bold claim, but does it not make sense?

He's not saying that if you go out and read 3 books on surgery, that when done reading, you will be able to go in and perform open-heart surgery. What he is saying, is that you will gain more theoretical knowledge of surgery than most people (other than the surgeons themselves).

By following his principle, you can easily become more knowledgeable than your competitors (and prospects) on your topic of choice.

Head on over to the Google machine, and search for your topic, see below...

All it takes is one simple query like "best books on [topic]." This should give tons of books to choose from

If you can't decide which ones to read, just head over to Amazon and search for the top rated books on your topic. See below

In the search bar I changed the drop-down menu to books. Then performed the search. After this in the menu on the right, I changed the drop-down option, from featured, to avg. customer reviews.

Depending on your niche, you may want to choose books that are designed for beginners, so you can understand and take in as much of the content as possible.

Take the time, and make sure to choose books that aren't too technical, otherwise you won't be able to absorb all the information from the book. Start with a beginners book, then step your way up if need be.

Once your finished reading these books, you will be miles ahead of most people in your niche.

There is a downside with books, unfortunately in some industries (not all) they can become outdated fairly quickly.

I have described this in the next point below.

Follow The Top Blogs In Your Niche

Have you ever heard the saying, "Keep your friends close and your enemies closer?" It's one of my favorites! Why do people feel the need to reinvent the wheel, when all the work is already done for them?

By following the top blogs in your niche, you can learn a crazy amount of information about your topic. Not only that, but you will gain insight about your audience, and the kind of content that works with them.

The downside of blogs is that they won't give AS MUCH information as say a book from a famous author would.

So I like to combine the two methods. You will get much smaller chunks of information from blogs, and it won't cost you a thing!

There's a few things I like to keep in the back of my head when I am following blogs:

-What topics do they talk about most?

-What topics on their site get the most engagement (shares, back-links, comments) from readers?

-What industry-specific terminology are your competitors using?

-What tools do they use and recommend using?

-What products are they promoting?

As far as finding these blogs, Google (once again) is your best friend, take a look...

Another tool I use is BuzzSumo. Here you can find the most popular blog posts in your niche by searching for it on their site.

Once you have a list of 10-12 blogs, subscribe to their mailing list and read their most popular posts as they are released to develop a deeper understanding of your topic.

Some people are extremely busy, and don't have time to read or read blogs...

In that case I would recommend the following:

Listen To The Top 3 Podcasts On Your Topic

This is probably my favorite way to learn new information on any given subject. I mean honestly, what's easier than listening/learning everything you need to about a topic while on your way to work, or on your lunch break.

Podcasts are becoming more and more popular in the world, and especially in the US.

There is an insane amount of podcasts to choose from. Head over to iTunes of Google Podcasts and make it a habit of yours, by listening to the best shows on your topic.

Do this in addition to the other methods listed above, and you will soon be a genius on that topic.

You might be saying to yourself, that's a lot of reading and listening. And you're right, it is. But you will thank yourself later when your waking up with money in your bank account, from all the sales you made overnight. :-)

I will publish method #3 tomorrow...

I think your intention of this blog was for good reasons. However, if no one ever told you so, I'd like to inform you. Please take a look here:

Hi Sean, this is a motivating wonderful information! Great learning! Florentino!

Great information Sean - and I appreciate it.

Most of these things I have been doing for a long time already, but a reminder is always nice.

I keep a running list in Evernote - and anytime I find interesting blogs, books, courses, podcasts - or people that I think are interesting enough to remember or to model - I put them on the list.

Every week I review the list and go visit at least three of them for a while to keep learning. I take courses, read books, and use other sources of information from those I feel are most valuable to me.

As I build my own business I also produce content on multiple different platforms (Courses, eBooks, books, Manuals, Videos, Blogs/Sites, Groups, etc.) and I am constantly working to interconnect it all.

Have a great day and I look forward to your next post!

Best regards,

L.D. Sewell
