Splitting An Article Into 3 Pieces

One of my longer articles had become unmanageable, it had hot close to 6,000 words and was going to continue to grow. So I'm in the process of splitting it into three different pieces. I've taken the change as a chance to split the Category up by adding each of those three pieces as a Subcategory. In the process, I've had to write a few more pieces for each and I'm in the process of creating an entire new section for one of the pieces.

This makes me a little nervous about what will happen to the searches I was starting to show for in the short-run, but I think it's going to be beneficial over the long-term.

So, now my History of Chatbots article is only 4,063 words after separating out my History of Fictional Chatbots which is itself 1,138 words. I still have to separate out the Events section, which will take the History of Chatbots article down to 3500 or so, but until I have the rest of that written and ready to post, it has to stay where it is. Moving that section, after adding the extra content, should increase my wordcount by another 500 words.

All told, after posting an article earlier today and writing the additional pieces for this, I think I'll have added about 3,000 total words today. I'm still working on the South Park article which will be linked from the Fictional Chatbots piece, and I have a Star Wars and a Red Dwarf post for the same section in the works.

Has anyone else had to do this? What were the results?

Health Update

I'm including this because I've been asleep for nearly 40 hours, the migraine is lifting finally, but this is what happens when my Emgality shot is delayed. It also means I am WAY behind on my monthly goals, but that is something I plan on fixing. It won't be easy, and I may not catch all the way up to where I need to be, but I'll give it my best knowing that I did everything I could.

With the fixes listed above and everything else, I have posted 9 articles and 13,216 words so far this month. By the end of the day that will hopefully be 11 articles and at least 15,000 words. I SHOULD be at 20,000 plus words today if I was going to hit my 60k word goal this month. I'm thinking I'll hit 45-50k this month though at my current pace. Not bad considering I've been down for more than 10 days with this last migraine mass attack.

I'm fairly sure I had a seizure on Saturday as well, I have a few bruises that I can't account for and I was foggier than usual Saturday evening and part of Sunday. This is a little upsetting because I haven't had one in more than a month. I have to be one year seizure free before I'm allowed to drive again, so every time I have one it's a pretty heavy blow. It means that I'm reliant on my wife to go anywhere, and if she is out of town, I have to rely on neighbors.

But the big reason I'm including this is because I'm not sure if I owe anyone comments. Please let me know if I am in debt to you for a comment!

Useful tips on long articles! Hope to get that far some day.

On health, would you consider some light breathing exercise? There’s one super easy and helpful if practised regularly. With either left or right hand, use the thumb to count no. of breathing up to five times on each muscle pad in between the knuckles of the other four fingers, one inhale and one exhale is one breathing. There are 12 pads on the four fingers, which means you’ll have 60 times breathing In one round, it takes just a few minutes for most people. See if you’d like to try.

Thanks, I'll give it a shot.

We hope that you meet your intended goal. Don’t hurt yourself with another headaches writing but do diligence with pace like you said.

Cheers,
Mathew&Deloris;

I applaud you for your tenacity. There are quite a few people here who have to work their WA tasks around a medical condition.
One thing though. When your wife is out if town and you really need to go somewhere couldn't you take an Uber?

Yes, but if I have a seizure in an Uber I end up at the hospital with a ton of additional charges. It's only happened once, but it's not something I want to repeat.

I understand why they did it, it freaks people out when you start flopping like a fish, but I warned the guy ahead of time that I may have a minor seizure and I would be fine, just take me to the address I gave him because it was my home. I even told him how to buzz my wife if needed, but the hospital was closer, so I was dropped off there and he stuck around so I got charged a fee for his time.

It is a very good decision on your part to split your article into separate posting. Humans can only tolerate so much information at once and it is best when digested in smaller parts.
A couple of years ago, I did the same thing on the history of the world (with my own twist). It went well and am very glad that I did a posting in 3 parts. While all 3 still rank on Google, please do not assume that all parts will rank the same. None the less, if all get on the 1st page, you have made a great accomplishment. Make sure to keep your article(s) related to the subject and while the title can be the same, a small addition to it after a "-" will tell the search engines that it is a separate posting and you will not be penalized. I did this by adding an extension to the title. Example: The Eyes of Age - Part 1. The final of the three has the title: The Eyes of age - Edge to the Future

Hope this helps a bit!

Nice idea to break your long article into pieces. The length means that you are really grasping the scope of your topic. Nice going.

As for owing someone a comment, your email account should be sending you messages if you have a response waiting for you. Your WA profile image should have a red number showing if you have a private message waiting. Hope that helps you. That way you will know when there is someone waiting for a comment.

Sorry to hear of your health challenges. Glad you like WA so much that you can focus and keep doing your dream.

We wish you much success as you continue.

I'm getting the emails, but with my mind a fogged as it is after one of the big events I don't know where I'm at with any of it. Plus I still get email from my other business, so I get about 500-700 emails a day. Even with filtering it gets a bit overwhelming, more so if I have a few days where I'm unconscious.

Did you see the bug thread that Kyle has? It may be a good idea to report your problem. Hope that helps.

The emails are mostly from other sites, this one is a drop in the bucket. There is no bug to report.

Okay!
