New Site Launching Soon!
So my new project is getting close to launching finally. I'm finalizing the contract with our developer and we've set a date for the Alpha Launch - May 1st! The site is for an Emergency Medical Card System that we have a Provisional Patent on and I'm working on a Design Patent for. The system is fairly unique but until I get closer to launch I don't want to go into much detail here.
I will say that it developed out of a card I created for myself that literally saved my life multiple times. It has kept doctors from administering a standard treatment for diabetes that I have a serious allergy to. On two separate trips to Denver I've wound up in the ER after major seizures and I've had seriously high blood sugars - possibly partially caused by the seizures. During the post-ictal phase (after the shaking is over) I have a lot of memory loss and confusion so I don't remember my phone number or even my birthday, so trying to remember the 20 plus meds I'm on is damn near impossible. I'm lucky if I can remember that I've had a previous Heart Attack.
Anyway, on one occasion the card was handed over and the Paramedics used the info to treat me, one of them even asked where they could buy one. The nurses then passed it around and used it to enter my data into the system, and again several asked where they could get one.
I've also used it to avoid having to fill out forms when going to new docs. I just hand the card over and have them make a copy of it. But my favorite story is when my business partner, Derek Wood lost his wallet, he's an RN who works doing home care and his wallet fell out when he was visiting a patient. He had my card because he is one of my Emergency Contacts for when I visit Denver and because I forgot to mention the card during one trip to the ER, I was lucky enough that they unlocked my phone and called my wife who called Derek. So he came and pulled my wallet out to give them the card. After that we made him a card for me.
I'm off track... so Derek lost his wallet and the guy that picked it up found the card and thought the card was his. So he went down the Emergency Contacts, first calling my wife who didn't answer, then calling my father. Eventually, things got figured out and we got Derek in touch with the guy to get his wallet back.
After enough people that we dealt with asked us where they could buy one of my cards, we figured we better offer them for sale. But we had to make sure we had them patented, so we researched and made sure we were different enough from everything out there and offered some features they all don't. Some of those things won't come until phase 2 launches, but the project has been interesting.
Phase 2 and beyond is where we'll really start rolling, the first phase is to bring in enough money to fund the rest of the development. We have one investor and we're talking with others, but it's been a slow process. I'm doing the bulk of the work myself, so things have been slowed by some of the health issues.
Remember, you can move a mountain a shovelful at a time... it just takes a bit of time.
If you're interested in helping us test the project and getting our product for free, let me know and I'll add your name to the list for the Alpha and Beta Testers!

Really like how you were able to look at this medical problem and come up with an innovative solution that you can bring to market. Wishing you the very best Sean.
