Finally website

There! Finally finally finished lesson 4 and now have a website to customize. I'll write this mainly so that if others are in the same boat, or were in the same boat, maybe mutual encouragement is the key.

Do I feel elated? Not at all. I'm more confused than ever.

And now I'm not even sure of my niche. One of my ideas was help for seniors because I’m a senior and my mother is an even older senior. Kyle said to make your niche as narrow as possible. Or something like that. Obviously, Help-For-Seniors is way too broad. My mother had just fallen so I thought of walking canes. But hey - honestly? How enthusiastic can you get about walking canes?!

Kyle did say that it's not unusual to not stick with your first niche. But it's probably a good idea to go through all 10 lessons with my FIRST niche so that hopefully by the 10th lesson I'll have a better idea of direction for my SECOND niche.

What the heck to do now? Well - go on to lesson 5 and it will tell me.

Seniors is really broad. I have no idea if canes is too narrow. If it is too narrow, you might be able to widen it by discussing fall risks, lifeline-type services (bet there are affiliate programs for those), specific causes of balance issues, cane use techniques, when it's time to consider a cane, when to upgrade from a cane to a rollator, etc. Those are topics that will help people looking for canes...and then you can review specific canes if you want. You might want to consider that your audience is probably going to be not just seniors bjt family members and caregivers. So you could talk about overcoming reluctance to use assistive devices and setting them up for success, etc.

Some EXCELLENT suggestions Mistswitch. Thank you!

Great job on getting this far :-)

I think one could easily become enthusiastic about walking canes, my experience with niches is that the more I read and learn about a topic, the more I know about it and can relate to it - and eventually write about it.

It really comes down to content and marketability (is that a word?), meaning whether or not there are products to sell within the niche.

And yes, there are thousands, if not millions of different walking canes available for sale, and you can be an affiliate of said canes :-)

I wish you all the best, whatever niche you decide to go with, stay with it - and you will succeed within that niche!

Much love and respect,
Saemi
