Congratulations For Nothing!
But for me, sometimes it seems like a lot of congratulations for nothing. Maybe it's the cynic in me. Yes, that must be it, because I'm always one for offering an encouraging word. But if it works, then fairplay. Zig Ziglar used that when he took over as a sales manager at an organization whose sales force was lagging behind and not meeting quotas and so on. He told them that they were BEST SALES FORCE in the world, which was, of course, an utter and total lie. But guess what...it worked. They all began to live up to that undeserved accolade that they were the best and soon they really WERE the best sales force in the world.
So I guess I'm just going to congratulate myself for nothing here, and press on. If you're reading this, and you are, I guess there's some proof that this sort of motivation actually works.
I get lot of WA emails everyday, and it's hard to keep up. It gets overwhelming. The new concepts and idea we learn here, even though most are old concepts and ideas that have been around forever buy are spun in new ways, can be a bit overwhelming to absorb and put into action. At least for me, since for so long I've resisted any whiff of capitalizing and monetizing the webpages and blog(s) I've been writing since 1995. After all, the last thing I've ever thought about when sitting down to write was key word research. The last thing I ever thought about when designed a webpage was SEO optimization. In fact, I thought about those things about as often as Immanuel Kant thought about those things when he wrote Critique Of Pure Reason. Which, of course, would be never. Although I wonder, if the internet has been around back in those days, if he would have considered it.
So I look on my activity here, and all the catching up I have to do, and it really doesn't seem like I've done very much with my talents, such as they might be. I look at my websites, the new one I started here to practice, and the ones I currently have and I'm really sure what I have to congratulate myself about other than the fact that they exist. Yes, I've got a few affiliate links adding in at innocuous points. Yes, I created an Amazon Shop. But other than that, I look at myself and say to myself congratulations for nothing,
But then, I did write this blog post here. And I have the aforementioned Amazon Shop open for business.
And on my main blog, Whose Shake Is This, I wrote my latest post, entitled Congratulations For Nothing. So if you'd be so kind as look at that blog and gauge the dilemma I'm facing in monetizing it, then you'll perhaps catch a glimpse of what makes me a bit cynical about my efforts. Then again, y'all might have a suggestion ((besides taking up truck-driving as a career)) of something to do that I might be overlooking. Drop me a comment there or here. But please, don't congratulate me just yet.
Thanks in advance for your help.

Don't take the truck driveing job at all, DOT is more cynical than you could ever be. But the cab job might not be to bad. You would get alot of IDEAS for more posts that way.
After looking at your blog, the title was in part, Soccer, Football, NASCAR, I put that into Jaaxy and came uo with over 20 affiliate offers. But remember, it is OK to have a blog that DOES NOT make money!!! As long as you enjoy writing about the subject.
The idea of making money from a blog or website is, as long as your doing it why not make money from it. I have a blog that I have never used SEO, or KEYWORDS on, it has never had a vistor, much less made money. But that is ok with me.
It is all up to you and what you want from it. If you want a lot of vistors, and sell products from it, then you need SEO and KEYWORDS. If not DON'T WORRY ABOUT IT.

The truck driving job was not, of course, serious. I said truck-driving when the standard cliche is plumbing. I've been down the truck-driving route, once, for a week, and whenever I see a SCHNEIDER truck these days I say, "there but for the grace of God go I."
Thanks for taking a look at the site, which has been running since 2002. What I'm looking to do is add keyword and SEO stuff after the fact. Not use it as the basis for what I write about.. I put up an Amazon Shop there, and have tucked a few Amazon Affiliate links into posts where I mention a book. I haven't signed on with any soccer affiliates programs yet but I will do so. It's just I don't want my my writing there to based upon keyword research. Thus the curious challenge I faced. I'd like to get more traffic and readership for my writing....but since I'm not Bill Simmons and I don't work for ESPN and my blog is not entitled GRANTLAND, I've got to do a bit more work to go along with the writing.
That's the challenge, and WA and fellow affiliates like you are an essential part of helping me along the way.

I congratulate you for at least being honest about the whole matter ;)

I will give myself a round of applause, then, and hand the the trophy to my self-deprecating sense of humour.
By taking that approach, I was able to motivate myself to do something. Putting the ideas to paper, metaphorically, helped me integrate a bit of what I've been learning and absorbing. And then with your feedback, I can motivate myself to do a bit more..
That's what I did after getting caught up here. I went and created a new website for myself this afternoon based upon my other passion besides sports and anime: railfanning, featuring some of my railroad photography.
I wonder if a picture is worth a thousand keywords? We'll soon find out.
