British Columbia

It was a drizzling misty morning, typical of the beginning of spring in British Columbia Canada. The sun was struggling to find it's way through the watery haze. "I am going rafting Yeh!" I shouted to the sky. The spring thaw was washing turbulent waters down BC's magnificent wild rivers, making them just that little bit more (dare I say Dangerous) exciting. I was off to the Nahatlatch River with my fellow guides. We were to have a Whitewater rafting guides only run at the rivers 21 kilometers of foaming, boiling high-grade rapids. Too high for the punters, but just the ticket for extreme adventures like us, we all love 'High-water'.

I arrived at base camp; my fellow guides we there; all were filled with intrepid expectation for what the day shall bring. Some of us are going to get wet today! Bryan Fogleman was there, the owner-operator of REO Rafting. It was his boats that we were to use that day. One paddle raft and one oar boat. We packed the boats on top of the two ford vans, all the dry suits, paddles and oars inside, and off we went to the 'put-in'.

This is the place where the journey begins.
