Setting Goals for the New Year
Hi All,
At this time of the year, many of us make New Year's Resolutions!
- Give up Smoking
- Start Keeping Fit
- Lose Weight
- Stop Drinking so much
- Etc etc etc
However, as we know, we often find ourselves giving up only halfway through January.
That is because we tend to forget to have a strategy around our goals. Our goals need to be based on something that is bigger than us! A few months ago, I wrote a blog about creating an impelling vision and creating goals that filter into that vision. That vision - if strong enough - will give you a good enough WHY to keep going when things get tough! If you know that your goal to stop smoking ties in with giving your family the best of everything and showing them what healthy looks like through your own good example, then you have a much better chance of achieving your goals!
Here is that blog!

Each year, I sit down on my own with a pen and paper - and I revisit my vision, I take a look at my values (those things that are most important to me in life - I will write some training on how to find out your own values in the New Year) and I set new goals based on that vision and my values. But it doesn't stop there.... I work on those goals throughout the year! AND in the next few days I will write a training on how you can go through this process yourself!
In the meantime, have a think about what you really want to achieve as we head into 2016.... and how that fits into the bigger picture. Go to the training in the link above to find out how to do that!
Spend the rest of 2015 getting your plan for 2016 ready!
Best of everything to each and everyone of you!
Sarah

Great posting Sarah. I have written a couple of blogs on this subject that you may have not gotten a chance to look at. Talk to you soon! Dave. Setting Goals, Training For Newbies, Reviewing The Basics For All No New Year's Resolutions For Me!
Totally!! I quit New Years Resolutions (as a New Years Resolution) one year ;-) and started setting yearly goals instead. I do have a ritual - I go somewhere that I find inspiring (even if it is snuggling up with a hot chocolate somewhere cosy at home - or a glass of wine!!) and work through my ritual of goal setting for the year ahead!
You have to watch that you don't allow that second and thrid cup of hot chocolate or wine to affect your goal setting plans. LOL! Dave.
We tend to leave it... thinking we know our goals but it's such a great time to take stock and just understand where we are, where we want to go and how we want to get there!
Good to hear from you - and I hope your 2016 is filled with all kinds of wonderful successes!
