I heard that domains are assets, ya that makes sense. But I still don't understand one more thing. Buying my own dot com domain in my names???

If I own domains in my names what will I be using them for? For example my name is Sarah Jackson and I decide to purchase a domain. That is jacksons.com. What will I use it for?

Am interested in weight loss and I want to write an article concerning weight loss will I Still use this same jacksons.com domain? And if someone is searching for weight loss articles will he /she search for my jacksons.com on google? Please shed more light on how this works.

You can purchase a domain and search for the name related to your business for branding.
What do you want to be known as? for what?
But if your brand is Jacksons.com then people should know you for that and what you are willing to offer as Jacksons.com.

Plus people do not search for domains, they search with questions or keywords. So if you write about weight loss and google ranks the post , people will be able to find your content on whichever domain you are at.

Hi! If you own a domain, that means you can write whatever you decide on the website related to this domain.
But if you want to write about a specific niche, like weight loss, you might consider buying a domain name related to that. I think people will find your website more easily but searching "weight loss" and will probably remember it better.
I hope this helps :)

Hi Camille, ok so this might as well mean that if i want to write about anything for example baking, or hair i can use the domain in my name, but if i choose a specific niche then i should use a specific domain in that name. Is it so??? Sorry am new here so i just need clarity.

I think it is better if you use a domain name related to what you are writing about. But for instance, as I am trying to set up my photography business, I want people to hire ME. Not only my work.
So when buying my domain, I made a mistake by choosing "camillesphotography.com". I would have preferred just "camillebucher.com", so that it is the same as on my social medias.
So it all depends on what you want to do. You also can check out other people blogs and see what their domain name looks like :)
I hope you understood :)

Hello Sarah, You mentioned above that you are interested in weight loss so you have to go google search and find a keyword related to weight loss. Another option you can do galaxy and double-check your keyword in the google search you found.
Your domain is related to your niche which is all about weight loss.
Hope I had helped you too.

Sarah, in your domain names that is where you write content for your websites/site. This content is the one which is indexed by Google and is the one which brings traffic to your websites. this is in very simple terms.
